Android 16 (人造人間16号, Jinzōningen Jū Roku-Gō) is the sixteenth Android creation by Dr. Gero, based on his son Gevo. Originally built to fulfill Dr. Gero's vendetta against Goku, who had defeated the Red Ribbon Army as a child, Android 16 is later deemed unfit for activation.

Appearance

Android 16 is the tallest of all the Androids in the "Dragon Ball" series, standing more than twice the height of Androids 17 and 18. He has icy blue eyes, a red/orange mohawk, and gold hoop earrings. His outfit includes a dark undersuit with a lime green vest, boots, and bracers. A Red Ribbon Army logo is sewn onto the left side of his vest, which is later replaced by the Capsule Corp. logo when he joins the Z-Fighters after being repaired by Dr. Brief. His appearance is modeled after Dr. Gero's son, Gevo.

Personality

Despite his intimidating appearance, Android 16 is calm, friendly, and has a deep appreciation for nature and humanity. He displays a cold attitude only toward Goku, due to his original programming to eliminate him. Android 16 does not tolerate evil, especially towards nature and animals, which is why he views Cell as a threat. He tries to protect his friends, including Androids 17 and 18, urging them to hide from Cell, although his efforts prove futile when both are absorbed by the bio-android.

Android 16 has a brother-like bond with Android 17. His love for nature seems to have inspired 17's later decision to become a park ranger after his resurrection, where he adopts a more mature and protective persona.

16's peaceful nature leads him to form a bond with Gohan, Goku's son. In "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot," he makes it clear that he only seeks Goku and not his family. While testing his newly repaired body with Gohan, 16 shows his fondness for animals, and they bond over their shared love for nature. Despite viewing himself as a failure for lacking the boldness of his human template, Gevo, 16 is encouraged by Gohan, who sees him differently. This friendship leads them to team up against poachers and deepens their connection.

During the Cell Games, Android 16’s words become a catalyst for Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan 2, inspiring him to unleash his full potential against Cell. This proves that, despite being programmed to kill Goku, 16 does not hate him. In "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," he acknowledges Goku's noble nature and wishes to be free of his programming. In "Dragon Ball FighterZ," a new model of Android 16 does not retain the directive to kill Goku after Android 21 transfers his memory into the new body, as noted during his confrontation with a Goku Clone.

Biography:

Background

Android 16 is an incomplete android created by Dr. Gero, designed entirely from synthetic technology. Modeled after Gero's deceased son, Gevo, a high-ranking soldier of the Red Ribbon Army who was killed by an enemy bullet, Android 16 was made powerful out of Gero's affection for his son but was also designed to be gentle to prevent him from being destroyed in battle. Because his programming was incomplete, Dr. Gero decided not to activate him, fearing that he might destroy Androids 17 and 18. Dr. Gero even referred to Android 16 as a "prototype."

Android 16's primary malfunction, from Dr. Gero's perspective, is his inherently peaceful nature, which leads him to interact with the natural world instead of following Gero's orders. This makes him similar to Android 8, another gentle android. However, despite his calm demeanor, Android 16 remains committed to his original mission to destroy Goku. His peaceful outlook ultimately drives him to confront Cell, seeking to eliminate the threat that Cell poses to Earth. He is quiet, speaking only when necessary, and is notable for acknowledging that Androids 17 and 18 are not inherently evil.

Because of these traits, Android 16 was not intended to be activated. This is evident in Future Trunks' timeline, where Android 16 is not seen and is presumably not activated, likely due to his peaceful nature or the fact that Future Goku was already dead from the Heart Virus, making Android 16's mission unnecessary. When Future Trunks returns from the future, he does not recognize Android 16, suggesting he never encountered him in his timeline.

In "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," it is revealed that a Future Android 16 does exist in Future Trunks' timeline. He is discovered and reprogrammed by Towa in alternate timelines created due to the 2nd Future Warrior's interference with Towa's actions. In these timelines, Future Android 16 is activated and allies with Future Androids 17 and 18 to kill Future Gohan in Age 780 and later attempts to kill Future Trunks in Age 785. However, he is defeated both times due to the intervention of the 2nd Future Warrior and is eventually destroyed.

Dragon Ball Z:

Androids Saga

In the main timeline, Android 18's curiosity leads her to activate Android 16, against the orders of Dr. Gero, who had forbidden it. This act causes a confrontation with Gero, prompting Android 17 to kill him. Future Trunks tries to destroy the androids with a Buster Cannon before Android 16's activation, but his attack fails, and the giant is brought online. Upon his activation, Android 17 asks Android 16 how it feels to be free for the first time and mentions that Gero warned them he might destroy them all. When questioned, Android 16 only confirms that he was created to kill Goku, and the trio decides to pursue Goku, ignoring the nearby Z Fighters.

As they travel, 17 decides to steal a car to drive to Goku's house, enjoying his newfound freedom. Android 18 remarks that 17 still shows some human traits, while 17, learning that 16 was never human, is surprised by Gero's ability to create a true android. When Vegeta, in his Super Saiyan form, confronts them, 17 and 18 try to persuade 16 to fight, eager to see his abilities in action, but 16 refuses, leaving Android 18 to face Vegeta alone.

When Android 18 begins to overpower Vegeta, the Z Fighters—Trunks, Krillin, Piccolo, and Tien Shinhan—arrive to help. Android 17 reiterates his desire for 16 to join the fight, but 16 again declines. Vegeta, refusing help, continues fighting, leading 17 to urge the others to respect Vegeta's warrior code. However, when Android 18 breaks Vegeta's arm, Future Trunks breaks the truce and attacks her, unable to watch his father suffer. Android 17 quickly defeats Trunks, Tien, and Piccolo, and during this chaos, 16 remains focused on observing birds nearby, lamenting their flight from the noise of the battle.

After the fight, the androids head to the nearest town to find new clothes for Android 18, whose outfit was damaged. As they prepare to leave, Krillin approaches them and asks if they intend to kill Goku or take over the world. Android 17 explains they only want to kill Goku for now and will decide what to do next afterward. Krillin questions their motive, noting that Dr. Gero, who hated Goku, is dead. Android 17 clarifies that killing Goku is just a game to them, independent of Gero's hatred. Android 16 confirms they won't leave Goku alone, as they were created to kill him. Android 17 urges Krillin to help his friends, and Android 18 gives Krillin a kiss on the cheek before they fly off.

Cell Saga

As the androids fly over a snowy northern area, they spot a Lucky Foods van parked by a rest stop. Curious, they investigate, and the employees attempt to stop them, only to back off in fear when Android 16 lifts the van and dumps out its contents. The trio then drives off, with Android 17 planning to head to Goku's house. However, Android 18 reminds him that she wants new clothes, and he agrees to handle that first. When asked if he knows where Goku's house is, 17 admits he's guessing, prompting Android 16 to provide the exact coordinates. 18 suggests they fly there, but 17 insists on driving to enjoy the small pleasures of life.

Along the way, they are stopped and arrested by police for stealing the van. The androids easily break free of their handcuffs and destroy the police car before resuming their journey. In town, Android 18 shoplifts clothes, causing the store owner to call the police. When police cars pursue them, 18 flies out and destroys them, enabling their escape.

While driving, 17 and 18 sense a disturbance. Android 16 detects two powerful ki signatures fighting on the outskirts of West City, which are actually Piccolo (who recently fused with Kami) and Cell. 17, unaware of Cell's existence, dismisses 16's sensors, believing no one can match their power. Meanwhile, 16 notes one of the ki signatures is losing energy, the result of Cell absorbing Piccolo's power. Still, 17 arrogantly believes no one poses a threat to them.

Arriving at Goku's house, they find it deserted. 16 suggests that Goku could be at Capsule Corporation or Kame House. The androids decide to check Kame House, the closer of the two. The next day, at Kame House, Piccolo is shocked to see the androids arrive. 16 states that Goku is not present, and 17 threatens to use force if they do not reveal Goku's location. Piccolo challenges them to a fight on a nearby uninhabited island. After arriving at the island, Piccolo powers up, and 16 notices something different about him, suspecting he is no longer the same Namekian.

During the ensuing battle between Android 17 and Piccolo, they are interrupted by Cell, who reveals his intent to absorb Androids 17 and 18 to achieve his perfect form. Piccolo and Cell explain that Cell's absorption will fulfill Dr. Gero's dream of creating the ultimate super-being. However, 17 refuses to comply, stating he is Gero's ultimate creation. 16 warns 17 to flee, as Cell's power far exceeds theirs and could threaten the entire universe. 17 dismisses 16's warning as cowardice and attacks Cell, but he is easily overpowered. Piccolo tries to intervene but is swiftly defeated.

As 17 and Piccolo struggle against Cell, 18, unable to sense power levels, believes they are holding back. Android 16 corrects her, stating that Cell is far stronger. He urges 18 to escape alone while she still can, as 17 refuses to heed his warning. Piccolo unleashes his strongest attack, hoping to defeat Cell, but 16 quickly points out that Cell is unharmed. Cell emerges from the ocean without a scratch, and before 17's eyes, Cell brutally incapacitates Piccolo, tossing him into the ocean.

Intimidated by Cell's growing power, Android 18 realizes fleeing might be their best option. Android 16 urges her to run again, revealing that he will fight and destroy Cell, shocking 18. Despite being programmed to use his full power only against Goku, 16 decides to act now. He moves toward Cell, stunning Tien Shinhan and 18. As 17 is at Cell's mercy, 16 intervenes by striking Cell and freeing 17. Calculating that he and Cell are nearly equal in strength, 16 launches an assault with punches and kicks, but Cell dodges. On the ground, they collide with their rush attacks, but Cell surprises 16 by stabbing his stinger into 16's neck. However, 16, being inorganic, is unaffected and removes the stinger, throwing Cell to the ground and ripping off his tail to prevent him from absorbing the androids. Cell regenerates his tail, thanks to Piccolo's cells, showing the struggle's gravity.

Realizing Cell must be destroyed completely, 16 attempts a kick, but Cell counters with two punches. In response, 16 uses his Hell's Flash technique, removing his forearms to reveal cannons that charge up and create a massive explosion, causing significant damage to the surrounding area. After reattaching his hands, 16 sees 17 and 18 still there and urges them to run, knowing Cell won't be defeated so easily. However, 17, confident in finishing a wounded Cell, refuses to leave.

As 17 taunts Cell, the latter emerges from the ground behind him. Tien warns 17, but Cell quickly absorbs him with his tail, beginning his transformation into Semi-Perfect Cell. 16, realizing 17 has been fully absorbed, urges 18 to flee with him. Grabbing her, they take off, but Cell, now faster and more powerful, quickly catches up. Taunting them about his new speed, Cell blocks 16's attack and blasts his head, critically damaging him.

Cell then turns to 18, asserting it’s her turn to be absorbed. 18, terrified, threatens to self-destruct if Cell approaches. Cell, using 17’s voice, tries to manipulate her, claiming it’s the only way to become stronger. As 18 hesitates, 16, despite his damage, warns her it's a trick. Cell dismisses 16's warning, asserting that a machine can't understand their emotions. However, when Cell mistakenly mentions fulfilling Dr. Gero's wishes, 18 realizes it isn't 17 speaking; she and 17 hated Gero and would never praise him.

Cell, annoyed by his mistake, tries to subdue 18 before she can self-destruct. At that moment, Tien appears above them, charging his Neo Tri-Beam. Tien unleashes the powerful attack, repeatedly striking Cell and pinning him down, allowing 18 and 16 to escape.

After resuming his search, Cell struggles to locate Android 18 and 16. Assuming they are hiding among the chain of islands, he yells for 18 to reveal herself, threatening to destroy the islands one by one until he finds her. 18 realizes that Cell is willing to go to any lengths to achieve his perfect form. 16 assures her that Cell is too obsessed with completion to harm her directly. When 18 doesn't show herself, Cell destroys a populated island to flush her out, threatening that her time is running out. As 18 panics, 16 tries to reassure her that Cell will not risk his dream by killing her.

Impatient, Cell uses his Super Big Bang Crash to destroy islands in quick succession, closing in on the androids' hiding place. When Cell prepares to destroy their island, Vegeta and Future Trunks arrive, fresh from their training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Android 18 is shocked at Vegeta's confidence, doubting he can defeat Cell after she easily defeated him before. However, Vegeta boldly asserts that he alone can kill Cell.

Watching Vegeta power up to his Super Saiyan Second Grade form, the island begins to shake. 18, initially skeptical, realizes Vegeta has grown much stronger. 16, noting the change in Vegeta's power, urges 18 to wait and see how the battle unfolds. As the fight begins, 18 and 16 continue to watch, hoping for an opportunity to escape.

During the battle, Krillin arrives and spots the androids. Holding the remote Bulma created to deactivate 18, he approaches, intending to use it. However, upon seeing 18, Krillin hesitates, conflicted by his feelings for her. Ultimately, he decides against shutting her down and crushes the remote, much to 18's shock. She questions his actions, but Krillin cannot provide a clear answer. He urges her to flee before Cell finds her.

Meanwhile, Cell taunts Vegeta, suggesting he would be a more formidable opponent if allowed to achieve his Perfect Form. Vegeta, eager for a greater challenge, agrees. Trunks tries to intervene, but Vegeta stops him, wanting to see Cell at his peak strength. Spotting 18 and 16, Cell realizes his chance to become perfect is near. Trunks warns the androids that Cell has found them, prompting panic.

As Cell flies toward 18, Trunks transforms into his Super Saiyan Second Grade form and tries to intercept him. However, Vegeta blocks Trunks' path, knocking him into a nearby mountain. Cell lands near the androids, and they prepare to fight. In the ensuing struggle, 18, 16, and Krillin attempt to resist Cell, but their efforts are futile. Cell overpowers them with ease.

Determined to stop Cell's completion, Trunks attacks his father to get past him. Firing a Super Buster Cannon at Vegeta, Trunks rushes toward Cell. Cell, realizing he cannot defeat Trunks at his current strength, uses a Solar Flare to blind everyone temporarily. Taking advantage of the distraction, he quickly absorbs Android 18. As he begins his transformation, Cell creates a forcefield to prevent interference.

Amid the intense light and energy of his transformation, Cell emerges in his new Perfect Form. Krillin, enraged by Cell's actions, attacks him but is easily overpowered. Cell casually tests his new strength, and with a powerful kick, sends Krillin flying, nearly killing him. Android 16, watching in horror, realizes the gravity of the situation as Cell's newfound power threatens them all.

As the Cell Games begin, Android 16 watches from the sidelines, analyzing the power levels of the participants. He is determined to help the Z Fighters defeat Cell, despite his primary objective of killing Goku. Vegeta, who arrived first, dismisses 16's involvement, believing it will make no difference in the outcome. Cell, intrigued by 16's presence, comments that he had forgotten about him entirely, brushing off his potential as insignificant.

The rest of the Dragon Team soon arrives, with Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, and Yamcha joining the group. Upon his arrival, Goku approaches Android 16 and wishes him luck in the tournament. 16, however, remains cold and focused, reminding Goku of his original purpose: "I was created to kill you. Do not forget that, Son Goku." This somber statement surprises Goku, who remarks to Krillin that 16 is quite serious and "depressing."

Despite the tension, the Z Fighters recognize that they need all the strength they can muster to challenge Cell. Android 16, now free from Dr. Gero's programming to a degree but still aware of his directive, has shifted his focus to the greater threat: Cell. Goku and the others know they have to cooperate to stop Cell from achieving total victory.

The tournament begins with Goku stepping forward as the first challenger. Cell, excited by the prospect of a worthy opponent, squares off against him. The two fighters exchange blows at lightning speed, their movements almost invisible to the average human eye. Android 16, watching the battle intently, notes Goku's calm and controlled fighting style. However, he quickly realizes that Goku is testing Cell rather than going all out.

As the fight continues, Goku and Cell push each other to their limits, with both showing extraordinary power. Goku eventually reveals his true intention: he wants Gohan to fight Cell, believing his son has the potential to surpass him and achieve victory. This decision shocks the rest of the Dragon Team, who doubt Gohan's readiness. However, Goku steps aside, confident in his son's hidden strength.

As Gohan steps up to fight, Android 16 continues to observe closely. He understands Goku's reasoning but remains skeptical about Gohan's ability to defeat Cell, given the Bio-Android's overwhelming power. Nonetheless, 16 sees the importance of the moment and decides to remain ready to intervene if needed, aware that Cell's victory would mean devastation for the world.

The stage is set for the next intense battle in the Cell Games, with all eyes on Gohan as he prepares to face Cell. Android 16, with his repaired body and newfound resolve, stands by, ready to support the Z Fighters in their struggle against the monstrous Bio-Android.

Android 16's fate remains ambiguous after the battle with Cell. Since he was a fully mechanical android, unlike 17 and 18 who were modified humans, there is uncertainty about whether the Dragon Balls revived him when they resurrected those who died during Cell's rampage. While characters like Android 8 and Arale Norimaki, who are purely mechanical, were also revived after Earth’s restoration following the battle with Kid Buu, it is never explicitly stated if the same rule applies to 16.

Android 16 played a crucial role in inspiring Gohan to unleash his hidden power by sacrificing himself to provoke the young Saiyan's rage. His message to Gohan, emphasizing the need to protect the Earth and its inhabitants, proved to be the emotional trigger that allowed Gohan to ascend to the Super Saiyan 2 form. Despite his peaceful nature and desire to protect life, 16's death at the hands of Cell marked a turning point in the battle, helping Gohan find the strength to defeat Cell once and for all.

However, since 16 did not have a soul in the traditional sense due to his mechanical nature, the standard rules of the Dragon Balls' revival may not apply to him. His death remains an impactful and poignant moment, highlighting his shift from a programmed weapon of destruction to a defender of life.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes

In the Supreme Kai of Time Saga, an incarnation of Android 16 appears as a competitor in the Super Space-Time Tournament alongside other androids (13, 14, 15, 17, 18, and 19). His team fails to advance to the second round, leading to the erasure of Android 16 and his space-time. In the anime, another version of Android 16 assists Xeno Gohan, Yamcha, and Vidro against Transcended Chilled.

Online (Age 1000)

In Age 1000, the Red Pants Army and a clone of Dr. Gero mass-produce weaker copies of Android 16, named Android 16A, 16B, and 16C. These copies lack the original's personality and love for nature and are ultimately destroyed by the Time Patrol.

Budokai Tenkaichi 3

In the game's What If Sagas, an alternate timeline shows Dr. Gero sending an android built in Gevo's image (Android 16) back in time to kill Kid Goku during the Red Ribbon Army War. Android 16 encounters Kid Goku and Android 8 (Eighter) after the fall of Muscle Tower. Android 8 fights alongside Goku to protect him, and they eventually defeat Android 16, who acknowledges the power of their friendship.

Xenoverse 2

In the Android Warfare Saga, the Time Breakers empower Imperfect Cell with Dark Magic, making him stronger than Android 16. This enables Cell to defeat 16 and absorb both Android 17 and 18 simultaneously, skipping his Semi-Perfect form and reaching his Perfect form. The Future Warrior and Android 16 work together to prevent the timeline from being altered. During the Cell Games, the Future Warrior assists the Z Fighters in battling the Dark Cell Juniors to buy time for Mr. Satan to throw 16's head to Gohan, prompting Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan 2, restoring the original timeline.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Android 16 is repaired and recreated by Android 21, who implants his memories into a new model. This version does not consider himself the original 16 but retains a similar gentle personality without the programming to kill Goku. Android 21 rebuilt him due to his resemblance to her human son's appearance. Throughout the story, Android 16 cares for 21's original good personality and opposes her evil side. He helps the Dragon Team, indirectly acting against his former allegiance to the Red Ribbon Army. He also uses a soul-linking system to link a human soul to various fighters (Goku, Frieza, Android 18) to control Android 21's dark side and her growing hunger, eventually revealing his determination to protect her good side from her evil counterpart.

Attacks/Techniques

• Goku Termination Program - Android 16 was originally programmed by Dr. Gero to kill Goku. The program contains information on Goku such as his address, fighting style, and techniques. The program causes Android 16 to be cold towards Goku during the Cell Games though he refrained from trying to kill him due to the threat posed by Cell. Named in World Mission, it appears as one of Android 16's Abilities. At the start of battle, 5x his own PWR if Goku or Goku (GT) is on enemy team. However when he was reconstructed by Android 21 he lacked his original program to terminate Goku (either omitted by 21 or lost when Cell destroyed his body leaving only his memory intact).
• Bear Hug – A torture hold used against Perfect Cell.
• Power Radar – A scouter-like device embedded within the android's eyes (sensors) that can detect energy level and location. Unlike the regular scouters, however, it does not explode upon encountering too high a power level (as far as it is shown in the series). Alternatively, it could be that the power sensors that Gero built simply have a much higher threshold for power sensing, not necessarily that their measurements cannot hit a limit. In Dragon Ball FighterZ, it is revealed by Android 16 that his Power Radar is unable to detect Godly ki as he is unable to read Goku's power level in his Super Saiyan Blue form.
• Eye Beam – A synthetic form of Eye Laser. Android 16 used this attack against Cell. Also used in the Butōden series and as one of his Super Skills in Xenoverse 2.
• Hell's Flash – Android 16 lifts his opponent and tosses them to the ground, then he removes his hands, revealing two built-in cannons, and charges up energy before shouting "Hell Flash!!" to release a powerful beam of energy that scorches the opponent. Android 16 used Hell's Flash against Imperfect Cell, attempting to kill him before he could absorb Androids 17 and 18.
  • Full Power Hell Flash - A full powered version of Hell's Flash fired at maximum output. One of Android 16's Special Moves in Dragon Ball Fusions. Also appears as on of Android 16 and the reconstructed 16's meteor attacks in Dragon Ball FighterZ under the name Hell Flash Maximum Output.
• Machine Impact – A dashing shoulder block attack that Android 16 used against Cell.
• Pump Up – A power-up move that Android 16 used in Raging Blast.
• Rocket Punch – A technique where Android 16 launches one of his arms or fists at his opponent in the manner of a rocket, and then it explodes on colliding with someone or something.

• Self Destruct Device – Originally intended to be used against Goku, a self-destruct device implanted within Android 16 can incite arguably his most powerful technique. In an act of suicide, Android 16 sneaks behind his opponent, grabbing them and then detonating the bomb inside his chest. Android 16 tries using the self-destruct device against Perfect Cell but fails due to the unforeseen removal of the bomb by Bulma and her father, Dr. Brief, who were very surprised to find that such a powerful bomb had been embedded inside. It is his Ultimate Blast in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Named The Final Power that shouldn't be used in Dragon Ball FighterZ.
  • False Self Destruction - Android 16 unintentionally utilized this ability on Cell due to not being aware of the device's removal (see above). He glows blue when preparing to self-destruct, only to prematurely stop.
• Super-Power Direct Attack – A dashing punch used in the Butōden series.
• Hyper Cannon – Android 16 fires three consecutive Ki Blasts at the opponent. Used in the Butōden series.
• Kiai – Used in the Butōden series.
• Mega Energy Bomb – An energy sphere fired from one hand. It is one of his super attacks in the Butōden series.
• Hell's Beam – A version of the Hell's Flash where he only fires the energy blast. It is one of his ultimates in Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 and Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit.
  • Meteo Hell Flash Combo – The name of the version where he uses both the rush and the energy blast parts of the technique. It is his Meteor Attack in Ultimate Battle 22.
• Killing Neck Throw – Android 16 grabs the opponent's head and swings them over his head before violently smashing them to the ground. Used in the Budokai series.
• Finishing SplashSkill – A High Speed Rush used in the Budokai series.
• Devil Crush – Android 16 kicks the opponent up in the air, then he delivers a hook punch, an uppercut, and finally a powerful kick that sends the opponent crashing down to the ground. Used in the Budokai series.
• Explosive Wave – Android 16 used this attack in the Budokai Tenkaichi series and in Dragon Ball: Raging Blast. He creates a weak burst of energy, with himself serving as the nexus, for minor protection.
• Hell Spiral – A team attack used by Android 16, Android 17 and Android 18 in Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2.
• Evolution Buster – Android 16 grabs his opponent and performs a spinning piledriver. Used in Super Dragon Ball Z.
• Gigantic Press – Android 16 lays down in mid-air, diving downward to land on and crush his opponent. Used in Super Dragon Ball Z, this attack is not to be confused with Broly's Gigantic Press.
• Cyborg Guard – Android 16's most basic defensive move, where he raises his arms up in defense. Named on a card in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z.
• Super Rocket Punch - A stronger version of Rocket Punch used by Android 16 as one of his Special Moves in Dragon Ball Fusions.

Trivia

• After being repaired by Bulma and her father, Android 16 sports a Capsule Corp. logo over his Red Ribbon Army logo, indicating his break from his former allegiance.
• Android 16 shares traits with Android 8: both are friendly giants, love nature, and face tragic ends that spark significant transformations in Goku and Gohan. Android 16’s death prompts Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan 2, leading to Cell's defeat.
• In the original Funimation dub, Android 16’s voice had a robotic tone, while in "Dragon Ball Z Kai" and some video games, his voice is more human.
• In "Dragon Ball Z Kai," Dr. Gero's fear of Android 16’s potential threat to Earth contradicts other sources, where Gero fears 16’s gentle nature could thwart his goal of revenge against Goku. Gero’s other creations, like Cell, show little concern for Earth’s well-being.
• Android 16 resembles Astro Boy from Osamu Tezuka’s manga. Both are powerful androids created in the likeness of their creators' deceased sons, though they are eventually rejected by their creators.
• In "Dragon Ball Z 2: Super Battle," Android 16 is shown living in the forest post-Cell’s defeat, protecting animals. This parallels Android 17’s role as a forest ranger after the Cell Games.
