Appearance[edit | edit source]

As Yamcha's reincarnation, the boy grows and matures much like the original former bandit. However, the changes he made to events in the Dragon Ball timeline prevent him from acquiring Yamcha's characteristic scars. Additionally, he opts to retain Yamcha's longer hair, never cropping it into the short, spiked-up style seen in the original story.

Personality[edit | edit source]

As Yamcha's reincarnated form, the boy retains his enthusiasm for Dragon Ball while adapting to the challenges and opportunities of his new life. Unlike the original Yamcha, who occasionally showed overconfidence or insecurity, the boy displays a strategic and determined mindset, using his knowledge of future events to alter the timeline and improve outcomes.

His personality evolves significantly throughout his journey. Initially playful and impulsive, as evidenced by his clumsy fall that led to his reincarnation, he matures into a disciplined and focused individual. Driven by a desire to avoid Yamcha's original fate, he trains relentlessly to become one of Earth’s strongest fighters, demonstrating resilience, resourcefulness, and an ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Though ambitious, the boy is also self-aware and humble. He acknowledges Yamcha's weaknesses and works to overcome them without becoming overconfident. This is seen in his interactions with Vegeta, where he attempts to challenge the Saiyan prince but ultimately accepts his limitations and moves on emotionally from Bulma.

The boy is also empathetic and capable of forming meaningful connections, even with his rival, Oushou (reincarnated as Chiaotzu). Their final exchange reflects his ability to reconcile differences and find common ground. His lighthearted nature resurfaces at times, such as his playful yet thoughtful approach to fusion experiments and his reflection on his lingering powers in the real world.

Overall, his personality is a blend of determination, humility, strategic thinking, and a touch of humor, making him a dynamic and relatable character.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

The boy was a passionate Dragon Ball fan who frequently participated in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle tournaments, often securing victories unless a formidable player known as "Oushou" competed.

One fateful day, he clumsily fell down the stairs while trying to sneak a peek at a girl’s skirt, leading to his untimely death. His soul was unexpectedly caught up in a Reincarnation Game devised by Beerus and Champa. Reborn as Yamcha, the boy was pitted against another reincarnated soul, Oushou, who inhabited the body of Chiaotzu.

Reincarnation Game[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball[edit | edit source]

Awakening as Yamcha, the boy quickly realizes his knowledge of the Dragon Ball timeline gives him a unique advantage. After the battle against Emperor Pilaf, he chooses to join Goku and train under Master Roshi, setting himself on a path to rewrite Yamcha's destiny.

Dragon Ball Z[edit | edit source]

As the Saiyan invasion approaches, Yamcha completes his training with Kami and Mr. Popo but decides to deviate from the group. Requesting a spaceship from Mr. Popo, he travels to Planet Namek, where he persuades the Grand Elder Guru to unlock his potential. Guru, recognizing the boy's otherworldly origins, agrees and assigns Nail to train him for six months.

While on Namek, Yamcha learns that the Saiyan attack is imminent. Using the Namekian Dragon Balls, he wishes to return to Earth just in time for the battle. Arriving on the battlefield, Yamcha easily defeats the Saibamen, eliminates Nappa with minimal effort, and teams up with Goku to take down Vegeta. Though he struggles against the Saiyan prince, a clever distraction involving Beerus’ name gives Goku the opening to finish Vegeta off. Aware of Vegeta’s future importance, Yamcha refrains from killing him, allowing the Saiyan to escape.

As the timeline progresses, Yamcha begins to worry about Earth's fighters falling behind in power compared to future threats like Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu. Meanwhile, Kami senses Oushou's presence on Earth, recognizing it as similar to Yamcha’s own soul.

Following Future Trunks' warning about the Androids, Yamcha becomes aware that his relationship with Bulma is nearing its end. Seeking advice from Krillin, he adopts a new hairstyle and a more stylish wardrobe. During a chance encounter in the city, Yamcha thwarts a robbery but declines a date with a grateful hostage, signaling his growing maturity. At Capsule Corporation, he confronts Vegeta in an impulsive attempt to win back Bulma but ultimately accepts their budding relationship and moves on.

The Cell Games[edit | edit source]

Ten years later, Yamcha heads to the Cell Games arena but diverges from the main events to confront Chiaotzu, who reveals his plan to rule the Dragon Ball world. The two reincarnated souls engage in a fierce battle, with Chiaotzu using telekinesis and the Dodon Ray against Yamcha’s Wolf Fang Fist. The fight escalates until Yamcha attempts to use the Evil Containment Wave, though exhaustion prevents him from sealing Chiaotzu away.

After a heartfelt exchange, the two realize their shared connection as reincarnated souls and make peace. They even experiment with fusion using armbands designed by Bulma but abandon the idea after an unsatisfactory result.

The scene shifts to Beerus and Champa, whose Reincarnation Game ends in a tie. The two Gods of Destruction destroy the game board, and Whis returns the souls to their original world.

Return to Reality[edit | edit source]

The boy wakes up outside his school, his friend recounting the stairway incident. To his surprise, he discovers he retains a trace of power from his time as Yamcha, demonstrated when a gust of wind he unintentionally summons lifts a girl’s skirt. The story closes with the boy wondering about his lingering abilities as an image of Yamcha appears beside him, hinting at their enduring connection

Attacks and Techniques[edit | edit source]

Kamehameha

A signature energy attack that concentrates a vast amount of Ki before releasing it as a powerful blast with two hands.

Ah! Lord Beerus!

A clever feint designed to distract opponents by tricking them into believing that Lord Beerus is present, giving the user a momentary advantage.

Wolf Fang Fist

A rapid and ferocious combination of punches, swipes, and kicks performed with incredible speed and power. A wolf's howl accompanies the technique, creating an aura around the user. It is also featured as Yamcha's Super Attack in Dragon Ball Heroes.

Evil Containment Wave

A specialized sealing technique capable of trapping a target within a container, provided the attack is successfully executed.

Kiai

A technique that utilizes an invisible wave of Ki to create powerful shockwaves, striking opponents without physical contact.

Saw It Coming (見切り)

A unique ability tied to Yamcha (Reincarnation)'s PJS-31 card in Dragon Ball Heroes. It significantly increases the enemy's Charge Impact speed when attacking.

Shield Break (シールドブレイク)

A Fusion method originating from the Metamorans. The user performs a synchronized series of poses with a partner, aligning their energy levels perfectly. Reincarnated Yamcha and Oushou execute this dance while using Metamo-Rings to perform EX-Fusion.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Though the boy mentions Dokkan Battle tournaments, there are no direct PvP modes in the game, although if one considers the World Tournament mode, it is possible that the boy typically got the top ranking (locals, worldwide, etc.) whenever Oushou was not also participating in a World Tournament.
  • Yamcha (Reincarnated) appears as a playable character in Dragon Ball Heroes. He was added to the game to celebrate the volume release of Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha. Interestingly, this version of Yamcha retains the scars the real Yamcha had.
