Appearance[edit | edit source]

In her base form, Brianne is a slender, human-like young woman with shoulder-length green hair, adorned with an orange hairband with two pink gems encased in white. She wears a pink dress with a white collar, a white belt, black leggings, and pink high-heeled shoes.

When Brianne transforms into Ribrianne, her appearance drastically changes. Her physique becomes almost spherical, her skin turns teal, and she dons a sleeveless red and green dress with a thick petticoat and bloomers underneath. She also wears yellow gloves and boots, and her head is covered with a rubber cap featuring an antenna-like protrusion. In her Super Ribrianne form, she grows a pair of butterfly wings on her back and becomes overtly affectionate in this transformed state.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Brianne, in her core beliefs, is an individual who holds the power and strength of love as the highest virtue, similar to Heles. She considers love and happiness to be the most important emotions and entered the Tournament of Power with the goal of using the Super Dragon Balls to become a goddess of love for all universes. However, her initial concept of love is somewhat self-centered, focusing primarily on love for herself and her teammates rather than a more inclusive or deeper understanding. For example, she is shocked when she learns that someone she perceives as "ugly" like Krillin is married to someone as beautiful as Android 18. After being eliminated by 18 and witnessing the genuine love between her and Krillin, Brianne starts to question whether there are more types of love that she has not yet understood.

In Dragon Ball Legends, Brianne's obsession with love leads to her being manipulated by Babidi, who amplifies her beliefs to turn her into an extremist, causing her to alienate even her friends until she is eventually freed.

Brianne also has a tendency to show off, enjoying the attention that her team's flashy transformations bring. She becomes annoyed when Android 17 interrupts their transformation, even though she later tries to disrupt Goku's Spirit Bomb. In the manga, her shallow understanding of beauty is further emphasized, as she believes that someone who is not physically beautiful is weak and worthless. Interestingly, she finds Krillin more attractive than Android 18, finding the bald, noseless fighter to be handsome compared to his wife, whom she considers unattractive.

Despite her superficial views, Brianne does have some admirable qualities. Her strong belief in love strengthens her bond with her fellow Universe 2 teammates, particularly her Kamikaze Fireballs comrades. She is protective of them, showing great anger when Android 17 eliminates Kakunsa and Vikal. Although Brianne is saddened by her own elimination, she continues to support and cheer for her teammates. Her passion and charisma are so strong that she leads Universe 2 in one final joyous celebration of love before they are erased by Zeno.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Super[edit | edit source]

Universal Survival Saga[edit | edit source]

Brianne confidently answered an audition call for a spot on Universe 2’s team for the Tournament of Power. On her way to the audition, she encountered two rival contestants who judged her harshly based on her pop star appearance, telling her she had no place in a martial arts tournament. Insulted, Brianne transformed into Ribrianne and retaliated by blasting them with her Pretty Cannon. It is assumed that she proceeded with the audition and impressed the judges, as she ultimately secured her place on Team Universe 2. Zeno and Future Zeno, observing the incident through the Grand Priest's divination, seemed quite impressed with her abilities.

At the Null Realm, Brianne stood with her teammates, Sanka and Sous, as well as the rest of Team Universe 2. Once the tournament began, the trio was initially knocked aside by Narirama's extendable arm spin attack. Later, Brianne reacted to Kale's transformation and was seen ominously observing Goku, Android 17, and Android 18 from a higher level of the damaged arena, smiling confidently.

After assessing the state of the arena, Brianne called upon her comrades Sanka and Sous, declaring it was time to showcase their power. The Kamikaze Fireballs began their transformation, but were interrupted by Android 17's sudden attack. Brianne reprimanded 17 for the interruption and was joined by Toppo, after which the trio successfully transformed without further interruptions. Brianne then unleashed her Light of Love attack across the arena, only to have it stopped by Vegeta.

Following the encounter, Ribrianne clashed with Vegeta, exchanging punches and firing an energy blast at him. She then rolled into a ball and charged towards him, but Vegeta dodged at the last moment, causing her to accidentally knock out Dyrasem, who had been fighting Piccolo. Although not her intended target, Ribrianne considered the attack a success. She then intervened in Kakunsa's fight against Android 17, intending to assist her teammate, but Kakunsa insisted on handling the fight herself. When Kakunsa was ultimately knocked out of the ring, Ribrianne became enraged at her comrade’s elimination.

Ribrianne expressed her anger towards Android 17 for his harsh combat style and demanded that he reveal his identity. 17 introduced himself flamboyantly, explaining his intentions, and Ribrianne announced her own. They then charged at each other, exchanging numerous punches and kicks before clashing with their respective energy attacks. After briefly battling, 17 flew off to assist Goku, who was struggling against Roasie's Yacchaina Fist. Ribrianne, undeterred, charged at 17's barrier, broke through it, and resumed their battle. However, after Goku severely injured Su Roas, Ribrianne intervened to protect her teammate and then teleported away with Roasie using Jimizu's Instant Transmission. The two women watched Jimizu knock Zircor out of the tournament using their combined powers of love and hope.

Later, when Frost attacked Master Roshi, Ribrianne intercepted Goku as he attempted to rescue Roshi, engaging him in battle. As they fought, Ribrianne proclaimed that she would defeat Goku using the power of love. The two traded punches, and Ribrianne unleashed a barrage of Pretty Cannons, all of which Goku skillfully dodged. Goku responded with ki blasts, but Ribrianne easily shrugged them off, continuing her assault and managing to push Goku back momentarily before he countered, knocking her aside.

During a conversation with Heles, Ribrianne expressed her desire to win the tournament and use the Super Dragon Balls to become a goddess of love, adored by mortals from all universes. She asked Goku about his goal for the Super Dragon Balls, to which he nonchalantly replied that he hadn't given it much thought, possibly leaving the wish to his wife or sons or using it to find a strong opponent to fight. Ribrianne, confident, declared that one of his wishes had already come true and proceeded to gather love from her teammates and Heles, transforming into Super Ribrianne.

Goku, sensing her immense power, prepared for the enhanced battle. Dodging Super Ribrianne's "love arrows," he faced her Ribrianne Eternal Love attack, a massive burst of energy. Goku evaded the blast and, transforming into Super Saiyan Blue, delivered a powerful kick that sent Super Ribrianne flying through rock formations before she ultimately landed at Jiren's feet.

While in her Super Ribrianne form, she accused Jiren of being "too shy to confess his love" as she backed off, but Jiren ignored her and focused on Goku. When Goku was distracted while charging Universe 7's Spirit Bomb, Ribrianne tried to attack him, but Vegeta blasted her away. She then engaged in battle with Vegeta but was outmatched, leading her to retreat with her team to confront Jiren after the Spirit Bomb dissipated. Following her initial clash with Vegeta, Ribrianne reemerged from the rubble to fight him again, but even though she fought valiantly, she was no match for the Saiyan. Roasie had to step in to rescue her.

As Ribrianne and Roasie hid from Vegeta, Ribrianne became frustrated and despondent, lamenting the losses Universe 2 had suffered. She began to doubt their chances of survival in the tournament, seeing how much stronger the remaining universes were. Outraged by Ribrianne's defeatist attitude, Roasie slapped her and reminded her of their universe's love, which helped Ribrianne regain her confidence.

After resting, Ribrianne and Roasie confronted Goku following his battle with Kefla, but their attack was interrupted by Androids 17 and 18. Ribrianne fought Android 18 but accidentally struck Roasie during the fight, allowing the androids to capitalize and eliminate Roasie. Ribrianne reverted to her base form, Brianne, and attempted to restrain 18 using her Big Amour technique. Drawing on the love of Universe 2's members on the bench, Brianne summoned a giant Super Ribrianne avatar to deliver a final blow. However, Android 18, inspired by her love for Krillin, broke free of Brianne's grasp and defeated her.

After her elimination, Brianne cried but observed the happy relationship between Krillin and 18, causing her to reflect that there might be forms of love she didn't fully understand. As Universe 2's last three warriors, Zirloin, Rabanra, and Zarbuto, fought Goku and the Androids, Brianne used her Love Wand to support them from the bench. Despite their efforts, Universe 2's final fighters were defeated, and the Zenos began erasing the universe. As they faced erasure, Brianne, Sanka, and Sous transformed one last time into Ribrianne, Kakunsa, and Roasie, proclaiming their love and thanking their universe for its support before they were erased.

Brianne and her universe were later revived when Android 17 used the Super Dragon Balls to restore all erased universes. She cried tears of joy as she and the rest of her team were celebrated by the people of Universe 2.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Her name is speculated to derive from "Chateaubriand steak," with "Ribrianne" possibly being a portmanteau of "Ribs" and the steak dish. Her anime name, Brianne de Chateau, may be inspired by the French commune Brienne-le-Château, which could evoke sophistication and grace in Japanese culture.
  • Ribrianne is a Magical Girl in contrast with Universe 11's Pride Troopers, who are Sentai heroes. Both she and Top call a member of Team Universe 7 a "warrior of darkness."
  • Many of Ribrianne's designs and actions reflect influences from Pretty Cure, a magical girl franchise inspired by Dragon Ball Z:
    • Ribrianne's introduction with heart-like hand gestures mirrors those used in Fresh Pretty Cure!
    • Her signature Pretty Cannon attack is similar to the "My Sweet Heart" attack from Doki-Doki Pretty Cure!
    • In the "Limit Break x Survivor" opening, she launches an attack at Vegeta, similar to the "Pink Forte Wave" from Heartcatch Pretty Cure! Ribrianne's Super Ribrianne giant avatar resembles the Heartcatch Orchestra attack from the same series.
  • Ribrianne's voice actress, Rina Kitagawa, previously portrayed Yuko Omori/Cure Honey in Happiness Charge Pretty Cure!
  • Ribrianne references Sailor Moon multiple times:
    • At the end of her transformation, she says, "Time for your punishment!", a reference to Sailor Moon's catchphrase, "In the name of the moon, I will punish you!"
    • She wears circular hairpieces similar to Sailor Moon's and her transformation closely resembles Sailor Moon's transformation sequences.
  • Her dress and appearance bear a resemblance to Po from Teletubbies.
  • Ribrianne is one of the few Dragon Ball Super characters to break the fourth wall, as she narrated the preview for episode 117, asking viewers not to miss her new transformation. Goku Black also broke the fourth wall in the series.
  • In the anime continuity, had Ribrianne won the Tournament of Power, her wish to become a Goddess of Love could have doomed Universe 2 due to the Omni-Kings' secret stipulation that selfish wishes would lead to erasure. Her wish was deemed selfish compared to Android 17's wish to restore the erased universes. Ribrianne shares this trait with Jiren, whose wish to resurrect his mentor Gicchin could be seen as selfish, as it benefited a single individual rather than restoring an entire universe.
