Sealas SDBH

Is there meaning in protecting the correct version of history? In letting lives slip away? Evil slip away?! If one has the power to save--one must save. That is true justice. But how can I fix things? I can't save everyone on my own. I know... Evil itself must be eradicated. The universe must be reformed to exclude all evil! I will rebuild history from the ground up to be one of peace! I will reforge existence! To do that, I must first burn that scroll. History... must die.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Sealas is a Time Patrol antagonist whose appearance and demeanor reflect his complex sense of justice. He bears a resemblance to Hit, with similar facial features, though he is distinguished by the large tentacles sprouting from his head. His gray-skinned figure is clad in white Galactic Patrol armor adorned with blue gems and a dark red sash over black pants, and he wields a black staff with a white knob.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Sealas is calm, serious, and deeply focused on his ideals of justice, which developed during his service with the Time Patrol. His outlook changed dramatically after witnessing Kid Buu’s destruction of a planet and its innocent inhabitants. Despite his best efforts to shield a child from Kid Buu's attack, he found that the timeline still restored the boy’s original fate. This revelation led Sealas to question the Time Patrol’s mission of preserving history, feeling it to be fundamentally flawed if it meant allowing innocent lives to be lost.

Driven by a belief that true justice requires saving others at any cost, Sealas ultimately decides that to ensure peace, he must reshape history itself by eradicating all evil. His resolve to rewrite history leads him to a conflict with Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, who discovers his intentions and imprisons him in the Time Abyss for betrayal. However, Sealas patiently grows stronger and creates Ahms, a loyal servant, to assist him. Eventually, he becomes powerful enough to create a wormhole, enabling his escape from the Time Abyss. Confident and defiant, Sealas returns to the Time Nest, confronting Chronoa and effortlessly overpowering Xeno Trunks before setting out to execute his radical vision of justice, daring the Time Patrol to stop him.

Sealas, despite his ideals of peace, has no hesitation in harming or killing children, including young warriors like Beat, if it serves his purpose. After his defeat by the combined efforts of the Dragon Ball Heroes and the Time Patrol, Sealas is bewildered, declaring that both he and Ahms were "perfect." Chronoa, however, points out that his failure stemmed from his isolation and excessive trust in his own plans, making him realize he neglected the power of allies. Xeno Trunks confronts Sealas, expressing his inability to understand why Sealas is willing to act as a villain to reshape history, but Sealas remains steadfast, viewing the Time Patrol as the real villains for opposing his vision.

Determined to achieve his goals, Sealas advances to the final stage of his plan, allowing Ahms to absorb him to achieve even greater power and control. Now as Sealas (Fused), he believes his new form has rendered the Heroes and Time Patrol powerless. Sealas regards their opposition as illogical but welcomes the fight as a test of his power.

Even after his ultimate defeat by Beat and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, Sealas refuses to acknowledge the merit in Beat’s ideals, believing they are misguided and will eventually change. Unlike other fighters, Sealas is pragmatic, relying on Ahms' abilities and showing unyielding confidence in their power, even when addressing powerful foes like Goku Black with condescension.

Sealas, before his disillusionment, was respectful toward Chronoa and understood that altering history was a crime against both the Time Patrol and Galactic Patrol. His failure to save a young boy from Kid Buu, however, drove him to reject the ideals and laws of these organizations, even as he retained the Galactic Patrol symbol on his chest, believing that his actions represented "true justice." Following his decision to betray the Time Patrol, he resolved to destroy what he deemed a "flawed" history. Like Demigra, Sealas underestimated Chronoa, leading to his failure and subsequent imprisonment in the Time Abyss. However, his time in isolation made him more patient and strategic in planning his eventual escape.

One of Sealas' key strategies involved targeting the SDBH game world, a brilliant choice that complicated the Time Patrol’s ability to counter his anomalies. His background as a former Time Patroller gave him an in-depth understanding of their methods, which likely influenced his decision to create these irregularities within the game world, making it hard to detect or replicate in real-world history. This included granting certain characters unnatural transformations or advanced knowledge, like Majin Dabura's awareness of the Time Patrol while still allied with Babidi, and allowed him to gather combat data on formidable fighters like Frieza and Cell, who Ahms could later absorb.

Sealas is also an intellectual equal to Dr. Gero, Towa, and Bulma, particularly in robotics and artificial intelligence. His creation, Ahms, showcases his expertise in AI, as Ahms is fiercely loyal and obedient. Furthermore, Sealas appears to have a greater understanding of the SDBH game world's mechanics than both Leggings and Xeno Trunks, who began studying it to combat his disruptions.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Sealas was initially a dedicated member of the Galactic Patrol until he was recruited by Chronoa as the very first Time Patroller, becoming her disciple. His sense of justice, deeply rooted in his past as a Galactic Patrolman, led him to struggle with the darker realities of history, particularly the devastating acts of Majin Kid Buu, a being of ancient destruction. Chronoa sought to guide Sealas toward accepting these harsh truths as part of his duty to preserve history, but Sealas remained resolute in his ideals.

After witnessing the death of a young boy he had tried to save from Kid Buu, along with the boy's entire planet, Sealas lost all faith in the Time Patrol’s mission, unable to accept a role that forced him to allow innocent lives to perish. Concluding that the only path to a peaceful, "just" world was to eliminate the existing, "unjust" history, Sealas decided to betray Chronoa and the Time Patrol by attempting to destroy the Scroll of Eternity. However, Chronoa discovered his intentions and thwarted his plans. As punishment for his betrayal and his attempt to erase the official history, she imprisoned Sealas in the Time Abyss, much like she had previously done to Demigra in 75 Million Before Age.

World Mission[edit | edit source]

In World Mission, Sealas is initially shown imprisoned within the Time Abyss. Using a Wormhole, he escapes to the Time Nest, where he confronts Chronoa’s disciple, Xeno Trunks, who tries to protect the Time Vault. Despite Xeno Trunks' transformation into Super Saiyan and his sword attack, Sealas counters effortlessly with his staff, defeating him. Afterward, Sealas departs without causing further harm, leaving Chronoa to warn Xeno Trunks about Sealas' dangerous intentions.

Xeno Trunks is later sent to investigate unusual anomalies in the game world of Super Dragon Ball Heroes (SDBH). Supported by Capsule Corporation technician Leggings, he adopts the superhero alter-ego "Great Saiyaman 3" to operate discreetly in the SDBH universe. Due to Sealas’ past as a Time Patroller, he manipulates the SDBH game world, as its flexible history provides more unique and varied scenarios than altering official history would allow. However, the game world’s instability also risks creating openings for game characters to enter the real world, which forces Great Saiyaman 3 to recruit a team of SDBH players, the Dragon Ball Heroes team, to help investigate and correct these anomalies.

During one mission, after the Dragon Ball Heroes team resolves a game world anomaly in Age 764, Sealas travels to Hero Town, realizing that Time Patrollers are actively opposing him. He grows determined to gain enough power to destroy the Scroll of Eternity and reshape history according to his vision. To accomplish this, he creates Ahms, an AI capable of absorbing data to increase its strength. Ahms absorbs data from formidable fighters like Frieza, Cell, Future Hit, and Goku Black, becoming an immensely powerful ally. Despite Ahms' strength, however, the Dragon Ball Heroes and the Time Patrol ultimately defeat him. In response, Sealas fuses with Ahms, transforming into Sealas (Fused) to continue his quest.

Sealas (Fused) launches an attack on the Time Nest with the intent to destroy the Scroll of Eternity, but he is ultimately thwarted by Beat and the Time Patrol, ending his plans to rewrite history.

Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]

In the seventh Universe Mission promotional opening for Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Sealas appears in the Time Vault within the Time Nest, where Beat, Note, and Froze are gathered. He picks up a Time Scroll that shows signs of altered history, causing each character to be transported to various points in history: Froze to the battle between Super Saiyan Goku and Frieza on Namek, Note to Vegito's fight against Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed), and Beat to Super Saiyan Blue Goku’s fight against Golden Frieza. Later, Beat joins forces with the Time Patrol members Xeno Trunks, Xeno Vegeta, Xeno Goku, Xeno Gohan, and Xeno Goten, along with allies from the Demigra Army, Demigra, and Robelu, to confront Dark King Mechikabura and the Demon Gods of the Dark Empire. Meanwhile, Demon Goddess Towa creates Fin, and Demon God Dabura confronts Super Saiyan 4 Goku.

In the eighth Universe Mission opening, Sealas reappears behind Beat, Note, and Froze as they prepare to join Super Saiyan Vegeta in a confrontation against Android 17 and 18 during the Android Conflict in Age 767. Sealas observes as Super Saiyan Beat, Super Saiyan Note, and Froze power up for the battle. Note and Froze engage Android 18, while Beat and Vegeta take on Android 17, with Beat demonstrating enough Super Saiyan strength to impress Vegeta by keeping up with Android 17.

While Sealas does not directly engage Beat, Note, or Froze in these scenes, his actions align with his character's behavior in World Mission, hinting that he might be gathering combat data through his indirect interactions and observations.

Attacks and Techniques[edit | edit source]

  • Time Travel: As the first Time Patroller, Sealas can travel through time using the Scroll of Eternity.
  • Wormhole Creation: Sealas can create wormholes, similar to Towa and Demigra, allowing him to travel through time or access different dimensions, including the Time Abyss and the Time Nest. He uses this ability in Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission to move between these locations and travel to Hero Town.
  • Risking it All for a Friend: Sealas demonstrated his bravery by shielding an innocent child from an attack by Kid Buu during one of his rampages while serving as the first Time Patroller.
  • Bōjutsu Mastery: Sealas is an expert martial artist, particularly skilled in using his staff as a weapon.
  • Acrobatic Techniques:
    • Skybreaker Dance (演舞・破空 Enbu Hakō): Sealas strikes down his opponent with his staff, follows up with a series of spinning kicks and strikes, and finishes with a powerful thrust of his staff that unleashes lightning.
    • Lightbreaker Mad Dance (乱舞・裂煌 Ranbu Retsukō): In his fused form, Sealas charges at his opponent, delivering two heavy slashes before executing a massive swing that creates a large explosion of energy.
  • Anomaly Creation: Sealas can create anomalies within the game world's timeline, threatening its stability and creating tears in space that connect the game world of SDBH with the real world. These anomalies allow Sealas to alter reality in the game world more radically than what is possible in the real world. They can grant characters new powers, knowledge, and abilities they typically would not possess, such as:
    • Allowing characters like Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz to achieve Super Saiyan 3 during the Saiyan conflict.
    • Giving the Anomalous Frieza his Golden Frieza form and Cell his Cell X form.
  • Healing and Resurrection: Sealas can use the anomalies to heal or revive characters defeated in battle, including resurrecting slain game world enemies like Anomalous Frieza.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Sealas' name is derived from "Shirasu," a type of sardine, which fits the naming conventions used by the Galactic Patrol.
  • Drafts rejected for Sealas are repurposed as extras in the Dragon Ball Super manga.
  • Although Sealas has departed from the Galactic Patrol, he continues to wear its symbol, despite his actions to alter history violating Galactic law. His background as a Galactic Patrolman likely influenced his strong sense of justice, driving him to correct what he perceives as unjust history.
  • Sealas recognizes similarities between himself and Goku Black, as both are time travelers motivated by a desire to change the world due to their convictions of justice, leading them to oppose their former superiors. Additionally, both characters fuse with their primary allies to enhance their power after being defeated (Sealas with Ahms, Goku Black with Future Zamasu).
  • Sealas' belief in "true justice," which he interprets as the obligation to use one's power to save others, aligns with Beerus' perspective in Dragon Ball Super that "Nobody who trumpets justice is ever righteous themselves." This statement reflects Beerus' view of the Zamases' claims regarding their Project Zero Mortals initiative, suggesting a broader theme of the morality behind justice in the series.
