Hearts (ハーツ, Hātsu) is a key character in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, known as the "God Hater" for his mission to free mortals from the control of divine beings, particularly Zeno. He is the leader of the Core Area Warriors.

Hearts is the main antagonist of the Universal Conflict Saga but later allies with Goku during the New Space-Time War Saga to thwart the Crimson-Masked Saiyan's plans and gather the Dark Dragon Balls to escape Fu's Pseudo Universe and defeat him. In the Supreme Kai of Time Saga, an alternate version of Hearts from a different timeline appears as a member of Team 5 in Aeos' Super Space-Time Tournament.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Hearts is a tall, humanoid figure with red eyes, pointed ears, and blonde hair, which he initially styles slicked back. His complexion is mostly pale with yellow markings on the upper sides of his face. He wears a long black coat over a brown and yellow belt, along with a red sash, red pants, red gloves, and an orange glass visor with white frames. He also has a gold-foiled choker, armor covering his arms from wrist to shoulder, and tight-fitting boots with upward-curving toes. An X-shaped scar is visible across his chest. After being defeated and sent to Hell, his appearance changes dramatically: his hair becomes loose and disheveled, and he loses his previous accessories. He dons a dark-blue prison uniform with black boots with white tips, similar to the one Trunks wore while imprisoned on the Prison Planet, and gains a halo to signify his deceased state. Later, during his time in the Pseudo Universe, Hearts wears a crimson, fur-collared trench coat with gold accents and long black pants.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Hearts shares a self-righteous and arrogant nature similar to Fused Zamasu, driven by a personal and all-consuming goal. He believes the multiverse can only achieve true freedom if all gods, including the Omni-Kings, are eliminated. Despite his defeat at Gogeta's hands, Hearts reveals a more benevolent side, expressing that his ultimate aim was to free mortals from the arbitrary rule of divine beings, such as the Omni-Kings, who erase universes at will. This shows his appreciation and affection for mortals. His disdain for gods extended to his ally, Fused Zamasu, whom Hearts happily eliminated when he no longer needed him. He even offered to ally with Gogeta to take down the Omni-Kings, demonstrating his willingness to join forces with enemies to achieve his goals—even when Gogeta was using a divine form at the time.

While Hearts' beliefs and actions often led to the death of countless people, his intentions to free mortals from divine rule appeared sincere. He is even seen crying upon realizing that the people of Earth do not desire the freedom he envisions for them.

Although he values mortal life, Hearts does not hesitate to attack planets and kill many people, viewing such actions as necessary sacrifices for the greater good of the multiverse. He admits his own hypocrisy openly. Despite his ruthless approach, he shows genuine concern for his mortal allies, often saving them from defeat. After Kamin and Oren's deaths, he promises that their sacrifices will not be in vain. He also shows a particular affinity for Cumber, believing he could help fulfill his ambition of slaying gods, although Cumber himself is indifferent to Hearts' cause.

Hearts is notably confident and composed. He remains unfazed by unexpected situations, such as the surprise appearance of Vegeta and Future Trunks, and keeps his focus on his primary objectives. He shows no hesitation in confronting powerful opponents like Jiren, whom he respects for his strength. He also admires Hit for finding a way to counter his mind-reading ability and even relishes the idea of drawing out Ultra Instinct's perfected form or facing Gogeta Blue, suggesting he enjoys challenging fights, much like Goku or Hit.

After being freed from Hell by Demigra, Hearts appears less arrogant and more willing to cooperate, as he teams up with Goku to escape the Pseudo Universe. Nevertheless, he retains his disdain for divine beings, as seen when he is disgusted by Aeos' plans for the Scrolls of Eternity and prepares to attack her. During the Super Space-Time Tournament, his affection for mortals is further demonstrated when he reprimands Meta-Cooler for attempting to kill Vidro, who had surrendered. He even restrains Meta-Cooler with his Gravity Cage despite being on the same team, showing his commitment to protecting mortals. When Meta-Cooler argues that losing would mean their timeline's erasure, Hearts dismisses the concern, declaring that he has no intention of being erased but also no intention of killing mortals.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about Hearts' early life, but at some point, he became aware of Zeno and potentially other gods, developing a strong hatred for their disregard for mortal life and their power to erase entire realities at will. He eventually grew powerful enough to catch the attention of Fu, who selected him as one of the warriors to be imprisoned in the Core Area of the Prison Planet. Within this realm, Hearts became the leader of the Core Area Warriors.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]

Prison Planet Saga[edit | edit source]

In the anime, Hearts and the other members of the Core Area Warriors make their first appearance after the chains surrounding the Prison Planet break, signaling its impending destruction. During this event, after Fused Zamasu retrieves Cumber's unconscious body, Hearts and his allies teleport away, beginning their journey to challenge the gods.

Universal Conflict Saga[edit | edit source]

Hearts appears alongside Fused Zamasu, observing his allies, Oren and Kamin, battling against Vegeta and Future Trunks. He informs Zamasu that they did not plan to confront the Universe 7 fighters until later and instructs him to avoid engaging until Zeno is defeated. Hearts and Zamasu then travel to Universe 6, where Hearts unleashes a gravitational force that immobilizes the Saiyans and Hit. He declares his intent to use the Universe Seed to overthrow Zeno, the Gods of Destruction, and the Supreme Kai.

To demonstrate his power, Hearts creates a massive transparent cube, sending it into space and shrinking it to destroy a nearby planet. He attempts to do the same to the Saiyans and Hit but halts when Oren and Kamin ask him to let them continue their fight. Hearts then decides to move on to the next universe, asking Zamasu to accompany him, though Zamasu resists being ordered around. Spotting Hit, Hearts inquires about the strongest being in all universes. Reading Hit's mind, he learns that Jiren is the answer and decides to head to his universe.

After Cumber fails to defeat Jiren, Hearts increases the gravity on Jiren to prevent him from attacking Cumber and then teleports Cumber to Universe 3. He sends Oren, Kamin, and Fused Zamasu to fight Jiren, but they fail to cause any damage. When Goku arrives, Hearts wonders if he has ascended to godhood. He then calls on Lagss to assist, using her power to attack Goku, who manages to destroy her barrier in his Ultra Instinct Sign form.

Hearts orders Lagss to support Cumber in Universe 3, noting that she is the only one capable. Reading Goku's mind, he sees that Ultra Instinct Sign was imperfect and vows to draw out its true potential. Using Gravity Burst, Hearts easily pins Goku, Trunks, and Vegeta to the ground. After Shin arrives, Goku teleports everyone away, and Hearts decides to move on to their next target, having gathered enough energy from Universe 11. He traps Jiren in an Energy Cube to immobilize him.

Hearts and his group head to Universe 7, where they encounter the Dragon Team again. Goku charges at Hearts, who uses Gravity Burst to repeatedly slam him into the ground. As the Universe Seed begins to glow, Hearts powers up into a stronger state, confident that the seed is nearly complete. He and Goku fight, with Goku turning Super Saiyan Blue to even the battle. When Goku gains the upper hand, Hearts uses his Gravity Fist technique to put him at a disadvantage. Hearts increases his power and, drawing energy cubes to himself, delivers a powerful blow that knocks Goku out of Super Saiyan Blue.

Noticing that Kamioren is struggling, Hearts enhances their power using the Universe Seed, causing them to grow in size. After Goku defeats Kamioren in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form, Hearts absorbs the completed Universe Seed and declares himself the "Ultimate Godslayer." He immediately disintegrates Fused Zamasu within an Energy Cube, rejecting Zamasu's Project Zero Mortals, and destroys a city with a single energy blast. He uses his green orbs to attack Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Piccolo, Android 17, Jiren, and Hit, overpowering them all with ease.

Hearts' Gravity Finale technique forces Goku and Vegeta to consider fusion. After a brief hesitation, they merge into Gogeta, who confronts Hearts. Confident, Hearts dismisses the idea that Gogeta could win, but Gogeta quickly gains the upper hand in their fight. Hearts attempts to sway Gogeta to join his mission to kill Zeno, but Gogeta refuses. Hearts then summons a God Meteor and amplifies its power, trying to crash it into the Earth. However, Gogeta, with assistance from Jiren and Hit, manages to destroy the meteor with a Limit Ultra Kamehameha.

As the battle continues, Hearts questions Gogeta's limits and powers up, only for Gogeta to evade and strike the Universe Seed on Hearts' chest, shattering his divine energy and defeating him.

As he fades away, Hearts reveals his true intentions: to free the universe from the oppressive power of Zeno. He expresses his newfound appreciation for mortals, inspired by their limitless potential, and with that, both his body and the Universe Seed dissolve into light.

Universe Creation Saga[edit | edit source]

Hearts is shown in Hell, smiling in his cell. He is located by Demigra, who seemingly releases him. He is next seen standing beside Cumber's tank, smiling as he observes the glow of the Universe Tree.

New Space-Time War Saga[edit | edit source]

Hearts arrives in the Pseudo Universe and joins forces with Goku to defeat Fu, who had misused the Universe Tree for selfish purposes. The duo battles against the Dark Dragon Ball-fused Golden Frieza and Golden Meta-Cooler but are overwhelmed until Broly suddenly arrives and takes out both of their opponents. When the Crimson-Masked Saiyan appears, Hearts questions his allegiance to Fu, but the Saiyan gives a cryptic response and leaves. To heal Goku's injuries from the battle, Hearts gives him a Senzu Bean, confirming its effectiveness in the Pseudo Universe. Hearts then reveals a Dragon Ball and suggests they find the entire set to escape back to their own world.

Using the Dragon Radar, Hearts and Goku travel via Instant Transmission to Planet Vegeta, where they encounter Cumber, whom Hearts notes is enjoying his freedom. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan then appears and swiftly defeats both Goku (in his Super Saiyan Blue form) and Hearts (in his Super Hearts state).

Before the Crimson-Masked Saiyan can destroy Planet Vegeta, Hearts, Cumber, Goku, and Vegeta are transported to Earth by Cell's Instant Transmission. Despite Cell's alliance with them, Hearts secretly reads his thoughts and learns that Cell does not intend to return to Hell peacefully after their shared enemy is defeated but decides to keep this knowledge to himself.

Later, Hearts and Cumber engage Omega Shenron, the King of Destruction. Hearts tells Goku he has glimpsed his heart and knows they have battled in another dimension. Urging Goku and Vegeta to defeat the Crimson-Masked Saiyan quickly, Hearts transforms into Super Hearts and joins the battle. However, the battle is cut short when Omega Shenron vanishes after the Crimson-Masked Saiyan's defeat.

The two are then transported to the Crack of Time, where they encounter a rampaging Super Full Power Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker Broly, who targets Goku. When Broly fires an energy blast at Goku, Hearts and Cumber arrive in time to deflect it. At Hearts' command, Cumber battles Broly, who kicks Cumber into the Universe Tree to demonstrate his strength. Hearts, feeling energized, transforms into Super Hearts and joins the battle against Broly.

After Goku defeats Fu, Hearts appears and inquires if Goku has beaten him. Goku confirms this, and Hearts replies that Broly has vanished.

Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]

A different version of Hearts from another timeline, though sharing similar circumstances, participates in the Super Space-Time Tournament as a member of Team 5. In the manga, Hearts is seen walking through a forest while tossing cubes in the air. His team progresses to the second round, where they face Vidro, a member of the Glass Tribe like his ally Lagss. However, the tournament is hijacked by Demigra, and upon his defeat, it abruptly ends. Hearts contemplates taking down both Chronoa and Aeos due to their weakened state and his lingering grudge against the gods but decides against it after Hit warns him that the others will not stand by and let it happen.

Demon Invader Saga[edit | edit source]

Manga Version:[edit | edit source]

While in Hell, Hearts is approached by Majin Ozotto, who attempts to eat him. However, Hearts, having read Ozotto's intentions, puts up a barrier around himself, preventing absorption and allowing him to move freely inside Ozotto's stomach. There, he finds and rescues Lagss, who had been devoured earlier on Earth. Together, they save an exhausted Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan from a swarm of Ozotto clones and instruct them on how to escape Ozotto's body. When Gohan thanks Hearts for his assistance and mentions recognizing him from the Super Space-Time Tournament, Hearts is confused, leading Goku to realize that this Hearts is from a different timeline. After Vegeta shatters space-time to create an escape route, Hearts carries an unconscious Vegeta over his shoulder as everyone escapes Ozotto's Palace.

Anime Version:[edit | edit source]

Hearts and Lagss come across an exhausted Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan and save them from a horde of Ozotto clones. They then explain how to escape from Ozotto's body. After Vegeta shatters space-time to create an exit, Hearts, Lagss, and the rest are freed from Ozotto's Palace.

Attack Potency: Low Complex Multiverse level (Hearts fought against Jiren, who in turn should scale to CC Goku, who had fought his Xeno counterpart by that point. Stronger as Super Hearts. Vastly stronger as Ultimate Godslayer, fought against Super Saiyan Blue CC Gogeta). Weaknesses: His Heart Reading ability can be countered by trying to not thinking. Overconfident as Ultimate Godslayer, with the power he got from Universe Seed he believed that he could kill all the gods of the multiverse, and even Zen'ō himself, his Power Nullification in Ultimate Godslayer form can also nullify him and his teammates

Notable Attacks/Techniques[edit | edit source]

  • Heart Reading - Hearts can read one's thoughts. He uses this ability to keep track of the other Core Area Warriors, and also on Hit to find out who the multiverse's strongest warrior was. He also uses it to foresee his opponents' attacks, allowing him to easily dodge or counter their attacks such as Hit's Time-Skip attacks. However, this ability is not flawless as Hit was later able of finding a counter by thinking of an attack before switching to another one while skipping time.
  • Teleportation - Hearts possesses the ability to teleport himself and others, even between other universes.
  • Gravity Manipulation - Hearts possess gravity manipulating abilities. When amplifying the gravity in an area he surrounds himself with a purple aura and his hands glow with gold energy and aims his hand at the selected area.
    • Gravity Cage - Hearts is able to create gravity cubes which contain several hundred times Earth's gravity and amplify any shock taken from outside the cage by just as much. Due to the force of the gravity anything trapped inside them for long enough is likely to be annihilated and their energy is then transferred to the Universe Seed. The cubes can be made to be larger than an entire planet. As Ultimate Hearts, Hearts becomes capable of even wiping out immortals using his Gravity Cages.
      • Gravity Burst - Hearts traps the foe in a Gravity Cage and then amplifies it to damage his foe.
      • Continuous Energy Bullet - Hearts is able to create energy cubes which transform into thin homing energy beams.
      • Energy Shield - Hearts is able to use create a large energy cube as a shield.
      • Gravity Finale - Hearts barrages his foes with numerous Gravity Cages from below, which all join in the sky to form a massive golden Gravity Cage which crashes down upon his foe.
    • Gravity Fist - A power-up used by Super Hearts where he surrounds himself with energy cubes and a purple aura. When his aura is not active only his arms and legs are surrounded by energy and cubes. Super Hearts charges his foe and smashes them into the ground with a heavy blow.
    • Gravity Sphere - As Ultimate Hearts, Hearts is able to utilize the green orbs he gained with the form to attack foes. He can spin these orbs around his vicinity at such speed that they are invisible to opponents who are not aware they are there, creating a seemingly impenetrable wall.
      • Gravity Sphere/Stop - Hearts freezes his opponent in place.
      • Gravity Sphere/Anti - Hearts moves his opponent away.
      • Gravity Sphere/Press - Hearts forces his opponent into the ground.
  • Telekinesis - Hearts is able to halt energy blasts with telekinesis, allowing him to punch them back at foes.
  • Full Power Energy Wave - Hearts is able to fire a large purple energy blast.
  • Erase - As Ultimate Hearts, Hearts is able to erase others from existence, even an immortal. Used in the game version of the Universal Conflict Saga to wipe out Fused Zamasu.
  • God Meteor - A massive meteor summoned from the sky which crashes down onto the battlefield. It appears in Heroes as a CAA Special Ability, used by Super Hearts during his boss fight with Ultimate Kamioren and by Perfect Hearts as a playable character. In the Heroes anime and manga, this is Hearts' most powerful attack in his Ultimate Form.
  • Universe Seed Full Power - Ultimate Hearts unleashes the full might of the Universe Seed, increasing his already tremendous power and abilities.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Hearts is seemingly the second known person to kill an immortal being, with the first potentially being Future Zeno. Interestingly, both killed the same individual: Fused Zamasu.
  • Hearts' energy cubes may reference Ophiel's embodied weapon in Phantasy Star Online 2, as both characters are voiced by Takehito Koyasu.
  • Hearts shares the same voice actor, Takehito Koyasu, with Dio Brando from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
