The Future Warrior (らいせん, Mirai Senshi) is a custom-created character and the main protagonist of Dragon Ball Xenoverse. They play a central role in the game's storyline and act as a key member of the Time Patrol, helping to protect the integrity of the Dragon Ball timeline.

The version of the Future Warrior featured in Dragon Ball Xenoverse promotional materials is a male Saiyan, later known as Ace in Xenoverse 2, where he is portrayed as a legendary Time Patroller and holds the title of the “Hero of Toki Toki City.” While a new protagonist—another Future Warrior, handpicked by Chronoa and suggested by Elder Kai—takes the lead role in Xenoverse 2, the original Future Warrior still plays a significant supporting part in the story.

Appearance

As a customizable avatar, the Future Warrior’s appearance is determined entirely by the player. They can be created as one of five playable races—Saiyan, Earthling, Majin, Namekian, or Frieza Race—with male and female versions available for most. Players can further personalize skin tone, hair color, facial features, and voice, even mimicking appearances of other Dragon Ball races like the Hera Clan. These cosmetic options are purely visual.

Initially, the Future Warrior begins with a simple uniform, but players can purchase and equip a wide array of outfits and accessories inspired by characters from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and GT.

Although race and gender are locked in after character creation, other appearance details (such as hairstyle, face, height, and voice) can be altered by collecting all seven Dragon Balls and summoning Shenron in Toki Toki City. Choosing the wish "I want to be drop-dead gorgeous!" allows players to customize these features, and the wish can be used repeatedly each time the Dragon Balls are gathered.

In official artwork and promotional content, the Future Warrior is typically depicted as a young male Saiyan resembling adult Gohan in facial structure and hairstyle, though with distinct red hair. His outfit consists of:

  • A Capsule Corporation-style indigo jacket
  • Gray pants
  • Golden boots
  • A white cape similar to the one worn by Tien in the Majin Buu arc
  • A green scouter, identified in-game as the “New Model Scouter (Green),” the same type used by the Ginyu Force

This promotional design—later named Ace in Xenoverse 2—embodies traits from several iconic characters, which Bandai Namco has confirmed was a deliberate design choice. In-game, the outfit is referred to as the Time Patroller Suit, designed by Capsule Corp specifically for elite Time Patrollers.

Players who upload save data from Dragon Ball Xenoverse can carry over their custom Future Warrior to Xenoverse 2, including their original race, gender, and appearance.

Personality

The Future Warrior is a determined and courageous fighter with a deep sense of duty and justice. While largely silent and stoic in cutscenes, their actions consistently reflect a strong moral compass and an unwavering commitment to protecting the timeline and those within it.

They often remain calm under pressure, even in the face of overwhelming odds, and are known for their confidence in battle—sometimes smiling or laughing while fighting powerful enemies. This battle-driven enthusiasm can be particularly attributed to Saiyan Warriors, who inherently love combat, though the Warrior seems to share this joy regardless of race. Despite their fierce nature in combat, they are not without empathy or emotional depth. They react strongly to the deaths or suffering of allies, such as visibly grieving over Piccolo's death or urgently protecting Gohan from Raditz.

The Warrior displays a protective and loyal streak, putting themselves in harm’s way to defend others, such as shielding Gohan and Piccolo from Frieza’s Killer Ball or supporting their fellow Time Patroller during crucial missions. At the same time, they understand the delicate balance of time and history, refraining from altering key events and even preventing others—like Krillin—from doing so.

Though mostly silent, the Future Warrior's loyalty to the Time Patrol and their sense of responsibility speak volumes. They continue to fight for the safety of the timeline, even when the stakes involve their own existence. Their willingness to sacrifice, protect, and persevere highlights their noble spirit and makes them a true Hero of Toki Toki City.

Biography

Dragon Ball Xenoverse

In response to timeline distortions caused by villains like Dark Frieza, Dark Cell, and Dark Kid Buu, Future Trunks uses the Dragon Balls to wish for a powerful ally who can help protect history. This summons the Future Warrior, who appears before Shenron just before the Dragon Balls scatter.

Immediately after their arrival, Trunks tests their strength by launching an attack with his sword. Although surprised, the Future Warrior instinctively evades and engages Trunks in combat.

Impressed by their abilities, Trunks introduces himself and explains the situation. He invites the Warrior to join the Time Patrol and sends them to Toki Toki City to assist in repairing the timeline distortions recorded in the Scroll of Eternity. Using the Time Vault, the Future Warrior is sent through various moments in Dragon Ball Z history to preserve the true course of time.

Saiyan Saga

The Future Warrior’s first mission is to intervene in the battle between Goku, Piccolo, and Raditz, whose power has been unnaturally enhanced. Arriving just in time, the Warrior narrowly saves young Gohan from Raditz’s blast and joins the fight alongside Goku and Piccolo. Once the timeline is corrected and Raditz is defeated, Future Trunks congratulates the Warrior, confirming no adverse effects on history.

Later, the Warrior assists the Z-Fighters in a skirmish against hordes of empowered Saibamen. Although the battle initially favors the heroes, the time traveler is separated from the group, resulting in the off-screen deaths of Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha. After eliminating the remaining Saibamen, Nappa enters the fray. Together with Piccolo, the Warrior holds off Nappa until he targets Gohan with a Bomber DX. Piccolo sacrifices himself to save Gohan, just as in the original timeline.

Krillin and Gohan step in to delay Nappa until Goku arrives. When Nappa begins to struggle, Vegeta takes over, leaving Nappa behind. Nappa is then consumed by dark energy, giving him a temporary power boost, but he is still defeated by the Warrior. The Future Warrior later aids Goku in his battle against Vegeta and prevents Krillin from killing the Saiyan, thus preserving the original timeline. Upon returning to the Time Nest, the Warrior meets Chronoa and her divine bird companion, Tokitoki.

Ginyu Force Saga

On Planet Namek, the Future Warrior joins the Z-Fighters and Vegeta in their battle against a powered-up Captain Ginyu. The tide briefly shifts when Recoome arrives, attempting to destroy the battlefield with his Recoome Ultra Fighting Bomber, only to be interrupted by Goku’s arrival.

During the confrontation with Ginyu, Burter and Jeice intervene. Ginyu attempts to switch bodies with Goku, but Jeice accidentally knocks the Future Warrior into the beam, causing an unintended body swap. After Burter and Jeice are defeated, Goku—now in Ginyu’s body—asks the Warrior to check on Krillin and Gohan at Frieza’s spaceship.

Inside the ship, after dispatching several guards, the Warrior encounters Guldo. Initially confused by the sight of his “captain” attacking him, Guldo soon realizes a body swap has taken place. As the group gathers the Dragon Balls, Ginyu and Goku arrive to continue their fight. Ginyu again tries to reclaim his original body, but the Warrior intercepts the beam and regains their form. Guldo then reappears and paralyzes Goku long enough for Ginyu to successfully switch into Goku's body. Vegeta arrives shortly afterward and eliminates Guldo.

With Ginyu now in Goku’s body and severely weakened, Vegeta attempts to finish him off. Ginyu tries one last time to steal Vegeta’s body, but Goku tosses a Namekian frog into the beam, trapping Ginyu permanently. The Warrior then tracks down the source of the distortions—Mira and Towa. Although the Warrior briefly clashes with Mira, Towa pulls him back, claiming they have more important matters to attend to.

Frieza Saga

The Warrior's next assignment involves aiding Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin in fending off a furious Frieza. After a brief encounter, Frieza skips his earlier forms and jumps directly to his final transformation due to unseen interference. Despite Piccolo’s arrival, he is unable to make any impact against Frieza.

Goku soon arrives and begins a fierce battle with Frieza. During this clash, Goku prepares a massive Spirit Bomb. After it lands, the Z-Fighters celebrate what they believe is Frieza’s defeat. However, the celebration is cut short when Frieza, infused with dark energy, mortally wounds Piccolo and flings the Warrior aside before killing Krillin.

This act pushes Goku into a rage, awakening the legendary Super Saiyan form. With newfound power, Goku dominates Frieza, who retaliates by destroying Planet Namek. Goku and the Warrior fight a full-power, dark-enhanced Frieza on the collapsing planet. Eventually, Goku spots Porunga and tells the Warrior to leave the rest to him.

Cell Saga

The Warrior is next sent to prevent Mr. Satan from being killed during the Cell Games. After saving him through unconventional means, the Warrior faces off against Perfect Cell. Mr. Satan comically attempts to attack Cell but is swiftly knocked aside.

Suddenly, Satan rises again—this time empowered by dark energy—and surprisingly takes flight. As Goku battles Cell in the ring, the Warrior fights and subdues the possessed Mr. Satan from outside the arena. After Cell destroys the ring, Satan is forced to fight again but is defeated once more, returning to normal.

The Warrior then aids the Z-Fighters against the relentless Cell Jrs. After eliminating most of them, Towa uses her magic to awaken Gohan’s latent power, triggering his transformation into Super Saiyan 2. With the Cell Jrs. wiped out, the Warrior joins Future Trunks to take on Mira. Despite their efforts, Mira proves unshaken and prepares to absorb their energy, but Towa intervenes, claiming they have what they came for and retreating after siphoning energy from Gohan.

Finally, the Warrior helps Gohan in a final confrontation against the empowered Super Perfect Cell. Once Gohan regains enough strength to return to Super Saiyan 2, the Warrior steps back, allowing Gohan to finish Cell with the Father-Son Kamehameha.

Android Saga

When Future Trunks begins to fade from existence due to alterations in his timeline, the Warrior is sent to protect his past self from the rampaging Androids 17 and 18. Though victorious, Towa appears, revealing she has made yet another change to the timeline. As the Warrior attempts to confront her, Mira appears, forcing the duo to retreat.

A mysterious new time traveler offers to take the Warrior to another disturbance in time. Reluctantly, the Warrior accepts and is brought to Age 785, where Trunks has just returned to his timeline. There, they encounter a Perfect Future Cell who has absorbed both Androids and been powered up by Towa’s dark magic.

After a fierce battle, the Warrior and Trunks manage to defeat the corrupted Cell. With the timeline secured, the Warrior returns to the Time Nest, ready for their next mission.

Majin Buu Saga

History is once again thrown into chaos when Majin Buu splits into three clones to overwhelm Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Sensing something is off, Future Trunks sends the Future Warrior to intercept Towa and Mira before they can extract Goku's energy. After an intense clash, the two warriors streak past each other. Mira retaliates with a surprise strike, but the Future Warrior dodges and counters with a devastating Buster Cannon that disintegrates him.

The Future Warrior then heads to Goku’s location to help repel the trio of Majin Buus. With Goku reaching his limit in Super Saiyan 3, he leaves the rest in the hands of the Future Warrior, who now faces a swarm of smaller yet equally dangerous Buus. Eventually, Future Trunks contacts Buu and persuades him to wait for a worthy challenger. Amused, Buu decides to pass time by “playing” with the time traveler. The exhausted and frustrated Future Warrior retreats to the Time Nest, which enrages Buu so much that his dark half takes over, consuming his entire being.

Back at Kami’s Lookout, Demigra seizes control of Piccolo and sends him to attack Goten and Trunks. The Future Warrior intervenes, defeats the possessed Piccolo, and frees him from Demigra’s influence. Suddenly, Super Buu appears and engages the trio until Goten and Trunks fuse into Gotenks. After taking a beating, Super Buu attempts to flee. With Gotenks’ fusion running out, the Future Warrior and Piccolo step in to stop him. As they push Buu back, a familiar ally arrives to lend a hand. Pushed to the brink, Buu tries to self-destruct, but instead undergoes a horrifying transformation into his original and most dangerous form: Kid Buu.

Despite the combined efforts of the Future Warrior and Ultimate Gohan, Kid Buu annihilates Earth, killing Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks. The survivors—Goku, Vegeta, Mr. Satan, and the Future Warrior—regroup on the Sacred World of the Kai. Suddenly, Kid Buu appears and launches a full-scale assault. The final battle ends with Goku forming a Super Spirit Bomb, and just as Buu begins to hold it off, the Future Warrior steps in to lend his power. Together, they push the Spirit Bomb through, obliterating Kid Buu once and for all.

God of Destruction Beerus Saga

Just as peace settles at the Time Nest, a new threat emerges. One of Demigra’s mirages appears and reveals his next target: the era of Beerus, the God of Destruction. Alarmed, Chronoa quickly sends the Future Warrior to the altered timeline.

During Bulma’s birthday party, Beerus’ pudding is accidentally ruined by a wayward pitch, pushing the deity into a violent rage. The Z-Fighters step up but are quickly overpowered. Goku arrives and reveals a way to summon the power Beerus is seeking—by becoming a Super Saiyan God. After the ritual, the battle begins, shifting from Capsule Corp to a cave, and eventually into the vastness of space.

Just as the tide turns, Beerus falls under the influence of Demigra’s dark magic. Charging an enormous Beerus Ball, he prepares to destroy Earth. Demigra’s mirage taunts the Future Warrior, claiming victory—only for Beerus to hurl the attack at the illusion, revealing that dark magic has no effect on gods. Beerus then joins the Future Warrior and helps defeat the mirage.

After the battle, Beerus and Whis accompany the Future Warrior back to the Time Nest. There, they discuss Demigra’s growing threat. To gauge their strength, Whis challenges the Future Warrior and Future Trunks. After a fierce test of skill, the duo proves they may be strong enough to stop the chaos still to come.

Demon God Demigra Saga

The Future Warrior is dispatched to West City to investigate a mysterious disturbance—only to discover Frieza, Cell, and Kid Buu resurrected and empowered by dark magic. Despite the odds, the Warrior holds the trio at bay until Goku arrives to assist in defeating them. Just as peace seems restored, Gohan, Vegeta, and Gotenks appear. Future Trunks initially believes they’ve come to help, but they suddenly attack, revealing they’ve fallen under Demigra’s dark influence. After a hard-fought battle, they’re freed from the mind control, and the Future Warrior returns to Toki Toki City.

Upon arrival, the Warrior finds it under siege—Demigra has already struck, capturing Tokitoki and absorbing its power to further amplify his own. In the midst of their clash, Trunks falls under Demigra’s control and turns against the Warrior. Once he’s freed, Demigra shifts focus to the Future Warrior, attempting to corrupt them as well. However, thanks to the combined efforts of Trunks and Chronoa, the spell is broken. Goku soon arrives to reinforce the Warrior in the escalating battle against the Demon God.

Demigra is defeated and vanishes into a rift. Goku quickly teleports the group to the Time Nest, where Demigra reappears, now fully intent on obliterating history and rebuilding it in his own image. As he prepares to unleash a devastating wave of staves, Goku and the Future Warrior charge in. During the fight, the Warrior is mortally wounded by a magical staff, and Goku is incapacitated. Trapped in magical fields and powerless to stop Demigra, the Warrior falls unconscious as time itself teeters on the brink of annihilation.

But all is not lost.

In a mysterious void, an alternate version of the Future Warrior awakens and discovers a time scroll detailing their defeat. Using the scroll, they teleport to the crucial moment after Demigra departs through the wormhole, freeing Goku from the magical bindings just in time to let him intercept the massive energy sphere threatening history. Meanwhile, the Warrior charges into the Crack of Time to stop Demigra once and for all.

There, the final battle begins. Demigra transforms into his ultimate demonic form and throws everything he has at the Warrior. In the midst of their intense clash, the Warrior is bolstered by spiritual energy from Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin—all lending their power to turn the tide. Channeling this strength, the Future Warrior unleashes a mighty Kamehameha, obliterating Demigra and freeing Tokitoki just before the Crack of Time collapses. In an alternate scenario, Goku joins the final fight and, together with the Warrior, defeats Demigra with a combined Kamehameha.

With the timeline restored and Demigra defeated, Trunks offers the Future Warrior the chance to remain his partner in guarding the fabric of time—a role the Warrior gladly accepts. Goku, always eager for a challenge, invites the Warrior to spar, but Chronoa quickly intervenes, concerned they’ll destroy the Time Nest if they go all out.

In a lighthearted post-credits scene, the Future Warrior is seen training a group of rookie Time Patrollers. However, things get out of hand as the Warrior sends them flying with a bit too much enthusiasm, leaving Trunks sighing in exasperation.

Xenoverse 2

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, the legendary Time Patroller known as the Toki Toki City Hero—celebrated for their role in defeating Demigra—continues to serve alongside Future Trunks. However, the story now shifts its focus to a new protagonist: the second Future Warrior, who begins their journey in Age 852.

Though no longer the primary character, the Toki Toki City Hero remains active. They make a dramatic entrance during the Saiyan Threat Saga in Age 762, rescuing Goku and the new Time Patroller from a time-displaced Turles. This marks the hero's official reintroduction in the interlude cutscene “Greetings! Trunks, History’s Hero.” Depending on whether the player tackles the Saiyan Saga or the Ruckus on Namek Saga first, the cutscene appears after either arc is completed, though the content remains the same regardless of the choice.

Back at the Time Nest, Future Trunks and his iconic partner appear, with Trunks apologizing to Chronoa for failing their mission. Chronoa reassures him, noting that if the Time Breakers were easy to catch, the problem would’ve been solved long ago. Old Kai reminds them to properly introduce themselves. Trunks explains that due to the overwhelming number of distortions, he and his partner have been stretched thin, hence the need for help from the new Future Warrior. Chronoa and Old Kai both express admiration for the newcomer’s potential, while playfully bickering about who said what.

They discuss mysterious individuals appearing in the wrong time periods—an anomaly Trunks and his partner recognize. These distortions are caused by enemies from the Demon Realm: the resurrected Towa and Mira, former adversaries from the Demigra crisis who have since recovered and become more cautious.

During the Ginyu Force Strikes Saga, Future Trunks is ambushed and body-swapped by a Dark-enhanced Captain Ginyu, but eventually regains control and returns to the Time Nest. His partner, meanwhile, continues searching for Towa and Mira with no success.

The villains finally reveal themselves during the Galactic Emperor Saga. Turles and Lord Slug attempt to betray the Time Breakers and wish for immortality using the Namekian Dragon Balls. However, Towa had already tainted the Fruit of the Tree of Might with a life-shortening spell to enhance their power, granting both Turles and Slug the first stage of the Supervillain transformation. Trunks supports the Future Warrior in defeating them while his partner hunts Mira and Towa. Following the battle, they confront a powered-up Mira, now even stronger due to the collection of damage energy. Though Mira holds his own against both Trunks and the Toki Toki City Hero, Cooler—who had joined Frieza—is defeated by the Future Warrior.

The fight with Mira eventually shifts to Earth due to Dende’s wish transporting everyone but Goku and Frieza. Though exhausted, Trunks orders his partner to continue the pursuit while he and the Future Warrior return to the Time Nest.

As the story progresses, the Toki Toki City Hero continues chasing Mira and Towa but is ultimately captured and brainwashed by Towa, becoming the Masked Future Warrior. The Time Patrol, unaware of this, assumes they’re still investigating. Their absence inadvertently prevents a disaster when Future Trunks convinces Chronoa to delay celebrating the laying of a Tokitoki Egg, thus sparing the team from her infamous cooking.

Eventually, Towa uses the Masked Warrior’s knowledge to breach the Time Nest’s communications, luring Beerus and Whis away during the Emperor’s Return Saga—leaving Earth vulnerable to Frieza’s revenge. Future Trunks rescues the new Future Warrior, who—with Whis’ aid—reverses time and defeats Frieza, preserving the timeline.

Towa later forces the brainwashed hero to battle Trunks and the Future Warrior after Bardock’s defeat. Trunks realizes Towa exploited the hero’s deep familiarity with the Time Patrol. Once freed from control, the Toki Toki City Hero begins to fade from existence. Towa had traveled back to the moment when Trunks first summoned the warrior to Toki Toki City and killed Shenron, preventing the summoning altogether. As a result, the warrior never joined the Time Patrol, and every timeline they had corrected begins to unravel.

Returning to the Time Nest with the warrior’s mask in hand, Trunks and the Future Warrior find the scrolls rapidly distorting. Chronoa and Old Kai are stumped, unable to recall who the warrior was. Without the memories or records of their existence, the Time Vault begins to overflow with corrupted timelines. If the scrolls aren’t stabilized soon, all of history will be lost.

However, once Future Trunks recognized the mask the hero had worn, his memories returned. Realizing what had happened, he sends the Future Warrior back in time to prevent Towa from killing Shenron, allowing the Toki Toki City Hero to be summoned with the Dragon Balls. With help from his past self, the Future Warrior drives off Towa. Trunks’ younger self then remarks that the Time Patrol needs warriors of the Future Warrior’s caliber before making the wish that summons his future partner, restoring the original timeline and saving the Time Vault from destruction.

While the Time Patrol celebrates their victory, Chronoa quickly reminds everyone that Towa remains a threat. She takes the recent events seriously, having come dangerously close to losing all of history. Her warning proves true when Towa ambushes her, revealing that her previous “defeat” in Age 850 had been a ruse. By confirming the hero's mask was stored within the Time Vault, Towa was able to use it to bypass the protective barrier Old Kai and Chronoa created around Conton City and the Time Nest following the Demigra Incident. Using the power of the Tokitoki Egg, Towa frees Mira from the Time Rift.

During the ensuing battle, the Toki Toki City Hero protects the Future Warrior from Mira’s attack—repaying the favor for being freed from Towa’s control in Age ??? and saving history in Age 850. Encouraging the Future Warrior to protect history, the hero collapses from injuries. The Future Warrior then pursues Towa and Mira through a wormhole to Age ???.

The Time Patrol is unable to send help, as Towa and Mira have complete control over that era. Future Trunks and Old Kai can only observe from the Time Nest, while Chronoa tends to the injured hero. In the climax, Mira betrays Towa, absorbing both her and the Tokitoki Egg to attain his final form. Fortunately, Goku arrives—brought by Whis—to repay the Future Warrior for their earlier help against Golden Frieza and Metal Cooler. As Super Saiyan Blue, Goku retrieves the egg, allowing the Future Warrior to destroy Final Form Mira, ending the threat of both Towa and Mira.

With the battle won, the recovered Toki Toki City Hero, along with Trunks and Old Kai, congratulates the Future Warrior. Meanwhile, Chronoa and Tokitoki stop Goku from eating the Tokitoki Egg, which he says looks tasty. Chronoa then announces that the egg is nearly ready to hatch—signaling the birth of a new universe.

Afterward, Tokitoki convinces Chronoa there are too many people to cook for, so they use the Dragon Balls to summon a grand feast instead. Old Kai grumbles about using the Dragon Balls for takeout, but Beerus—who decides to stay and enjoy the meal with Whis and Goku—argues that it's a special occasion worth celebrating: both the return of the Tokitoki Egg and the defeat of Towa and Mira.

Following the feast, Goku encourages the Toki Toki City Hero to battle the Future Warrior to determine who is stronger. Beerus, however, stops Goku from joining and insists he watch instead. The outcome of their match is never shown, leaving the question of who is stronger unanswered.

Like the Toki Toki City Hero before them, the second Future Warrior becomes a legend among the Time Patrol, earning the title of Conton City Hero. A new statue in their honor replaces the one of the Toki Toki City Hero. Chronoa remarks that she feels safer than ever knowing she now has two legendary heroes to rely on.

Attacks and Techniques

The Future Warrior is capable of mastering a wide variety of techniques used by characters across the Dragon Ball series. These abilities can be acquired by training under various heroes and villains as Martial Arts Masters, purchasing them from the Skill Shop in Toki Toki City, or unlocking them through Parallel Quests. Below is a list of basic techniques, signature moves, and special abilities available to the Future Warrior: Core Techniques:

  • Flight – The ability to fly using ki, a fundamental technique for most skilled fighters.
  • Ki Blast – A basic form of energy attack, allowing the Future Warrior to fire ki projectiles at opponents.
  • Vanishing – A high-speed movement technique where the user momentarily disappears, reappearing behind or near the opponent.
  • Ki Sense / 3D Scan Mode – The ability to sense ki and scan enemy abilities using the in-game Search function. This feature is only available when the Future Warrior is not wearing a Scouter, as equipping one replaces the view with the Scouter interface.
  • Z-Assist – A special enhancement that activates when the Future Warrior uses their current Master's Ultimate Skill in battle. The Master’s soul briefly merges with the Warrior’s body, increasing the power of the attack. This effect is marked by a stylized "Z" and a spectral projection of the Master appearing behind the Warrior.
    • Requirements:
      1. The skill must belong to the Warrior’s current Master.
      2. The Ultimate Skill must be used after completing all of the Master's training.

Special Techniques:

  • Explosive Wave – A defensive burst of ki energy. Used by the Masked Future Warrior in Xenoverse 2 and available to the player in Xenoverse.
  • Multiple Kamehameha – A powerful, synchronized Kamehameha blast performed by two or more fighters. Used by Super Saiyan 3 Goku and the Future Warrior against True Demon God Demigra, and by Goku and the second Future Warrior in the Xenoverse 2 manga.
  • Emperor’s Death Beam – An advanced variation of the Death Beam barrage used by Golden Frieza. This Ultimate Skill is available in Xenoverse via the Resurrection ‘F’ DLC. During the Conton City Tournament, it appears as an Ultimate Skill for Frieza Race characters.

Race-Specific Abilities:

  • Saiyan Power – Saiyan characters receive a power boost when revived after being knocked out.
  • Mystic Attack – Namekian and Majin characters can stretch and extend their limbs for long-range melee attacks.
  • Regeneration – Namekians automatically regenerate health after taking sufficient damage. Majins can utilize regeneration in unique ways, including self-destruction followed by relocation and recovery through vapor form, or by briefly sleeping to restore health.
  • Tail Attack – Frieza Race characters can use their tail in combat for grappling and attacking.

Xenoverse 2 Exclusive Techniques:

  • Bloody Sauce – A dark energy sphere attack first used by Demigra and Towa. Depending on how it is used, it can either poison or slow enemies. This is one of the Masked Future Warrior’s Super Skills.
  • Rage Saucer – A dark-energy-infused rush attack originally used by Demigra. Allows the user to vanish and rapidly strike multiple enemies. Another Super Skill of the Masked Future Warrior.
  • Baked Sphere – A dark energy explosion technique and the Masked Future Warrior’s Ultimate Skill.
  • Darkness Mixer – A charging technique that replenishes both ki and stamina while damaging nearby enemies with a dark aura. Used originally by Demigra and available to the Masked Future Warrior.

Dual Ultimate Attacks (Xenoverse 2):

Introduced in Update 1.09.00, these are powerful two-person combo attacks. During the Warrior of Hope Saga, the second Future Warrior can initiate a Dual Ultimate with the Toki Toki City Hero, triggering a co-op team attack. These moves allow for new team-based variations of Ultimate Skills, even including techniques not present in the original Xenoverse. Only the second Future Warrior can initiate the combo, while the Toki Toki Hero provides support.

Conton City Tournament Exclusive Skills (1.15.00 Update):

  • Super God Fist – A high-impact energy-infused punch originally used by Goku. Becomes available as a Super Skill for Saiyan characters during the Conton City Tournament.
  • Full Power Energy Wave – A standard energy wave-type Ultimate Skill. Appears as an Ultimate for Saiyan characters during the same event.

Trivia

  • Voice Actor Cameo: TeamFourStar's Curtis Arnott, better known as Takahata101, provides the voice for Male Voice Option #8 in Dragon Ball Xenoverse, using the same voice he used for Nappa in Dragon Ball Z Abridged. This voice option is known for its humorous delivery and frequent mispronunciations—such as referring to the Ginyu Force as the “Dairy Squad.”
  • Creative Freedom & Return: Curtis Arnott later revealed that the English localization team encouraged him to make the lines humorous and even permitted in-jokes referencing Dragon Ball Z Abridged. He returned in Xenoverse 2 with both reused lines from the original Xenoverse and brand-new material.
  • Body Swap Incident: During the Ginyu Force Saga, the Future Warrior is accidentally knocked into the path of Dark Ginyu’s Body Change intended for Goku. As a result, the Warrior is trapped in Captain Ginyu’s body for several missions. Interestingly, if the player returns to the Time Nest during this period, the Warrior will appear in their original body, with Future Trunks explaining that the Scroll of Eternity reversed the swap. However, the body switch resumes when continuing the saga. The switch is inadvertently triggered by a stray attack from Jeice.
  • Pronoun Inconsistency: Regardless of the chosen gender of the Future Warrior, most characters refer to them using masculine pronouns. An exception occurs in Buu Buu! Majin Buu Cutscene 4, where Chronoa clearly refers to the Warrior as "her" if the character is female.
  • Time Patroller Suit Unlock: The Time Patroller Suit seen in promotional material only becomes available after completing the main story. Once finished, the full outfit can be obtained from Thirith, a robot member of the Taino Force.
  • Battle Demeanor: The Future Warrior is often shown smiling or laughing during dangerous battles. This could be explained by Saiyan biology—the race's love for combat—but it may simply reflect the Warrior’s enjoyment of a challenge, regardless of race. This demeanor is also evident when Goku asks to fight them after Demigra's defeat.
  • Emotional Depth & Moral Judgment: Despite their calm and confident exterior, the Future Warrior shows clear emotional reactions. For instance, they are visibly shaken by Piccolo’s death at Nappa’s hands. They also demonstrate a protective instinct—shielding Gohan and Piccolo from Frieza’s Killer Ball and saving Gohan from Raditz. However, they understand the importance of preserving the timeline and will intervene to stop others from altering history, such as preventing Krillin from killing a wounded Vegeta. These actions align with Future Trunks’ wish for a warrior who would safeguard the integrity of history.
  • Loyalty to the Time Patrol: The Future Warrior is deeply committed to their mission. In Xenoverse, they use the Time Scroll to rescue Goku and pursue Demigra. In Xenoverse 2, they defend the second Future Warrior from Mira and later entrust them with defeating the Time Breakers.
  • Facing Dark Cell: The Future Warrior smiles again when confronting Dark Future Cell. While this could be interpreted as confidence—having previously defeated Cell in Age 767—it might also reflect pain, knowing that Future Trunks’ survival and the Warrior’s own existence as a Time Patroller are at risk. Nevertheless, their timely arrival brings relief and determination to stop Future Cell once and for all.
  • Erasure and Resurrection: The Future Warrior is the first character erased by Towa during her attack on Shenron in the past, which alters the present. However, the second Future Warrior intervenes, travels back in time, and saves Shenron—restoring the first Warrior’s existence. This makes them the first character in the series to be both erased and brought back to life. It’s implied that the Warrior was not created by Trunks’ wish but merely summoned, meaning they existed elsewhere before joining the Time Patrol. With Shenron’s death, the summoning was blocked, preventing their recruitment from Age ???.
  • Legacy in Conton City: In Xenoverse 2, a holographic statue of the Future Warrior, titled the “Toki Toki City Hero,” stands at the center of the Recreation Plaza. Chronoa introduces the second Future Warrior to their predecessor via this monument. During Frieza’s Siege, the statue temporarily changes to one of Frieza titled “Universal Emperor.” After the second Warrior defeats Mira and becomes the “Conton City Hero,” a new statue of them takes its place. Depending on player rankings, the plaza can also feature statues like “Most Helpful Time Patroller” or “Number 1 Time Patroller.” Interestingly, in the Time Patroller Recruitment animation, the Toki Toki Hero statue is shown as a solid figure, suggesting it was changed to a hologram in-game for rendering convenience.
  • Misidentification as Gohan: When Xenoverse was first released, some fans mistakenly believed the Future Warrior (officially named "Ace" in promotional material) was Gohan—based on hairstyle and appearance, especially when shown using Super Saiyan God. This was later debunked when it became clear players could customize their Warrior's face and hairstyle, even mimicking those of established characters.
