Beerus (ビルス, Birusu) is the God of Destruction for Universe 7 and is frequently accompanied by his martial arts teacher and attendant, Whis. Beerus has a twin brother, Champa, who serves as the God of Destruction for Universe 6. Initially introduced as the main antagonist in the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film and the God of Destruction Beerus Saga, Beerus later transitions into a supporting character throughout subsequent sagas.

Concept and Creation

  • Beerus was referenced before his official debut in the manga chapter The Zeta Sword and the episode Out from the Broken Sword, where it was said that he sealed Old Kai in the Z Sword.
  • He was also mentioned as the one responsible for wiping out the dinosaurs, an event seen much earlier in the Dr. Slump chapter Hello, Moon!.
  • Beerus was originally conceptualized by the scriptwriter Yūsuke Watanabe as a villain who would infect others with evil and was thought to have given the Saiyan race its ruthless tendencies.
  • His initial design was more lizard-like, but Akira Toriyama reworked the character's appearance.
  • The name Birusu was first intended as a pun on the word "virus" (ビールス; German pronunciation). However, Akira Toriyama mistakenly believed it was a pun on the alcoholic drink "beer," which later influenced his interpretation of the name.
  • Beerus' design was inspired by Akira Toriyama's 14-year-old Cornish Rex cat, Debo, who was seriously ill but miraculously recovered, leading a vet to jokingly call it a demon.
  • Beerus' physical appearance draws inspiration from Ancient Egyptian deities, particularly in his overall aesthetics.
  • Initially, Beerus was going to fight the Z Fighters with a spoon or fork, but animation director Tadayoshi Yamamuro found it impractical. He recommended using chopsticks instead, which fit better with Beerus' overall style.

Appearance

Beerus is a purple, anthropomorphic cat with golden-yellow eyes and large, pointed ears. He has a hairless body and is overall thin and bony, though his arms are slightly muscular. Standing at a similar height to Goku but appearing taller due to his large ears, Beerus wears Egyptian-inspired attire that is black, blue, and gold, featuring white and orange diamond decorations similar to those worn by his mentor, Whis. In a Super Star Guide minicomic, Beerus is humorously shown in his brother Champa's clothing, inflated by Whis to resemble Champa.

Personality

Beerus is powerful but displays lazy, playful, and cat-like tendencies. He enjoys long sleep sessions and grooms himself like a typical feline. Upon waking from his deep slumber, he is typically in a bad mood, but his disposition improves the longer he remains awake. Beerus likes to display dominance, often claiming whatever he wants with little regard for others' feelings. His love for food is evident, as his planet is stocked with various delicacies, and he is a gourmet by nature.

Despite being the fearsome God of Destruction, Beerus often shows a lighter, more comical side, especially in his cat-like gestures and facial expressions. He has an indifferent attitude toward death, as he has destroyed countless lives and civilizations without much remorse. He frequently threatens to destroy Earth or other planets as leverage to get what he wants or to warn others.

However, Beerus is also hotheaded, selfish, and easily angered by trivial things such as losing games, being served greasy food, or being denied pudding. His arrogance and confidence in his superior power are well-founded, as he has proven to be the strongest opponent faced by the Z Fighters at the time of his introduction.

As Dragon Ball Super progresses, Beerus becomes more comical and is shown to be argumentative and abusive toward his servants. He expects respect and recognition as a god, although his playful side is often seen during events like the Tournament of Power, where he enthusiastically cheers on the fighters of Universe 7. Beerus shows respect for fighters like Master Roshi and Yamcha, despite their lesser power, and even praises Gohan for his efforts in battle.

While Beerus is arrogant and indifferent, he has developed a more tempered attitude since becoming acquainted with Goku and the Earthlings. He has become more tolerant of their antics, showing restraint in situations that would previously have led him to destroy entire planets. This change in attitude is partly due to Goku's friendship with Zeno and the events of the Tournament of Power.

Beerus shows a complex relationship with others. While he appears indifferent to mortals, he grows to care for Goku, especially during intense battles like Goku's use of the Spirit Bomb or his achievement of Ultra Instinct. By the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Beerus' relationship with Earth warriors has become more casual and positive, even babysitting Bulma's daughter Bulla during a fight.

Despite his extreme power, Beerus eagerly awaits a rival strong enough to match him, which is why he is intrigued by fighters like Goku and Broly. Though Beerus tolerates evil beings such as Frieza, he has little patience for disrespect. He is responsible for the destruction of Planet Vegeta due to his distaste for the Saiyan king, though Frieza ultimately destroyed it for his own reasons. Despite his destructive tendencies, Beerus shows a surprising benevolence at times, such as when he helps restore Universe 6’s Earth for his brother Champa.

Beerus also has a fear of Zeno, the Omni-King, similar to how others fear him. His relationship with Shin, the Supreme Kai of Universe 7, is strained, but Beerus is protective of him due to their life link. Despite his condescending attitude, Beerus is capable of showing respect and restraint when necessary, revealing a more complex and layered personality than his initial destructive nature suggests.

Beerus has a strong sibling rivalry with his twin brother, Champa, and they frequently bicker over trivial matters like food toppings or which universe is better. To avoid causing destruction during their arguments, they’ve agreed to settle disputes through food competitions. Beerus, though more mature, finds Champa’s love for sweets childish. Despite their rivalry, Beerus does care for Champa, as shown when he uses Super Shenron to restore Universe 6's Earth, perhaps to prevent Champa from coveting Universe 7's Earth.

In the Tournament of Power, after Champa is erased, Beerus remains stoic, implying a deeper concern for his brother. He refrains from teasing Champa, further reflecting his maturity.

Beerus is also paranoid about potential candidates for the God of Destruction role and doesn’t like others aspiring to his position. He is often seen destroying things on a whim, which has stunted the growth of civilizations in Universe 7. This random destruction is one reason why the universe has a low mortal level, and Old Kai criticizes Beerus for meaningless destruction.

As a God of Destruction, Beerus is lazy and often avoids his duties, choosing instead to nap and eat. He allows Frieza to destroy civilizations and doesn't interfere when Majin Buu kills the Supreme Kais or when New Namek's energy decreases, as he finds it too much of a hassle. This negligence contributes to the underdevelopment of his universe.

Biography

Background

Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7, is one of the most feared beings in the multiverse. He commands fear from the Kais, Supreme Kais, King Cold, Frieza, Cooler, King Vegeta, and even Shenron. As a God of Destruction, his role is to maintain universal balance by destroying planets, which allows for the creation of new worlds. Unlike the Supreme Kais, Beerus destroys planets based on his own whims, often without warning, leading to the destruction of important worlds without a second thought. His unpredictable behavior leaves the Supreme Kais in constant fear when he is awake.

Beerus spends most of his time in prolonged slumber, waking only every few years or decades to perform his destructive duties. When awake, the Supreme Kais live in tension, unsure of how many planets might be destroyed. Although he is tasked with maintaining balance, Beerus has been shown to delegate destruction to others when he finds it bothersome.

Beerus has existed for at least seventy-five million years (and hundreds of millions of years according to the anime) and was trained in martial arts by his attendant, Whis. In both the anime and manga, Beerus once lost an arm-wrestling match against another God of Destruction—Belmod in the anime, and Quitela in the manga. Every thousand years, Beerus attends coordination meetings with the Supreme Kais, but he once sealed a Supreme Kai inside the Z Sword after a petty argument. He has also interacted with other notable figures, including Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, and King Kai, whose planet Beerus destroyed after losing at hide-and-seek (or a video game, depending on the version).

Beerus' sibling rivalry with Champa has led to destructive confrontations, one of which occurred on their shared birthday when they fought across the universe after Beerus ate the only Puff Puff Fruit on the cake. Their attendants stopped the battle before it could destroy the universe, leading to a truce that replaced fighting showdowns with food competitions.

In the manga, Beerus also participated in Zeno’s All Universe Hide and Seek Tournament, but the event was canceled after Beerus fell asleep for fifty years while hiding, which angered Zeno and caused disdain from the other Gods of Destruction.

One time, when Beerus woke up, he sneezed, causing two of his world's suns to explode. Whis had to reverse time to prevent this event from happening again. Beerus also claimed that during a previous visit to Earth, he wiped out the dinosaurs because they had a rude attitude toward him. However, their extinction was undone by the time-traveling Arale, which led to the creation of Earth's moon.

At some point, Beerus met Frieza, and the two got along well due to their mutual enjoyment of destruction. However, Frieza once overstepped, angering Beerus, who easily defeated him in a fight. Beerus also visited King Vegeta's palace on Planet Vegeta, where King Vegeta treated him and Whis to a feast. Beerus used King Vegeta as a footrest while eating, an incident witnessed by the young Prince Vegeta, who was upset but remained silent.

In Dragon Ball Super, Beerus tasked King Vegeta with finding the universe's best pillow. Though King Vegeta found it, he tried to deceive Beerus by offering the second-best pillow, leading to Beerus punishing him. However, Beerus spared both King Vegeta and Planet Vegeta. Beerus also saw potential in the young Prince Vegeta and allowed him to live despite his defiance. Before going back to sleep, Beerus gave Frieza permission to destroy Planet Vegeta because the Saiyans annoyed him, though Frieza did so mainly out of fear of the Saiyans' potential to become Super Saiyans. Beerus considered destroying Frieza at one point but ultimately did not.

In Age 739, Beerus received a prophecy from the Oracle Fish, predicting that in 39 years, he would face an exciting opponent, the Super Saiyan God. Following this, Beerus went to sleep.

Dragon Ball Super

God of Destruction Beerus Saga

Beerus awakens after 39 years of slumber and, along with Whis, visits a planet inhabited by pig-like humanoids. Despite the food being mostly satisfactory, Beerus criticizes it for being greasy and, with a mere tap on the table, destroys half the planet. Whis comments that Beerus' actions were harsh, but Beerus insists that the grease was unhealthy.

Later, while waiting for dinosaur meat on his own planet, Beerus grows impatient after two minutes and twenty seconds. He travels to another planet, where the arrogant leader refuses to serve the dinosaur meat. When the leader transforms into a monstrous form to combat Beerus, Beerus effortlessly defeats him with minimal effort and destroys the planet with a small ki ball. During the planet's destruction, Beerus has a vision of the warrior from his dream and finally recalls the name of the powerful figure: the Super Saiyan God. This revelation motivates him to seek out the warrior that could provide him with endless entertainment.

In the Dragon Ball Super manga, the events involving Beerus play out slightly differently compared to the anime. Instead of visiting multiple planets, Beerus goes to a planet inhabited by insectoid natives. During his meal, Beerus realizes the drink they've given him is poisoned, though this does not affect him. The insectoids then try to attack him with crossbows, but Beerus easily destroys the entire planet with his "Wrath of the God of Destruction" technique. As Beerus and Whis watch the planet's destruction from space, Beerus recalls that a dish he had, called "Soup Yasi Jinkot," reminds him of a prophetic dream involving the "Super Saiyan God." This memory prompts him and Whis to return to his planet to remember the details of the dream more clearly.

On the journey back to his planet, Beerus starts craving something sweet and questions Whis about his speed, to which Whis reminds Beerus that he is the fastest being in the universe. Upon arriving, Beerus summons the Oracle Fish to confirm the identity of the warrior from his dream. When the Oracle Fish cannot remember, Beerus threatens to reduce her meals from three times a day to twice, which causes the Oracle Fish to recall that the warrior's name is indeed the Super Saiyan God.

Whis objects, noting that such a warrior never existed, and questions whether the Saiyans would have known about it. Beerus then remembers he had ordered Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta because he found the Saiyans repulsive. While taking a bath, Beerus is surprised when Whis informs him that some Saiyans survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta and now live on Earth. Whis also mentions that one of the surviving Saiyans, Goku, had defeated Frieza and attained the form of a Super Saiyan.

Intrigued, Beerus sets out to find Goku, who is training on King Kai's planet. Beerus and Whis travel there, taking 26 minutes, with plans to eat grilled salmon along the way. Old Kai notes that since Beerus awoke, he has destroyed eight and a half planets in the universe. Beerus complains about the food Whis packed for him, stating he is "tired" of it, even though he only ate it once 160 years ago after destroying Planet Monser.

When they arrive at King Kai's planet, Beerus confronts Goku, who immediately challenges him to a sparring match. Goku transforms from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan 3 but is unable to land a hit on Beerus. In response, Beerus flicks Goku on the forehead and quickly incapacitates him with a pressure-point jab to the shoulder. After this brief encounter, Beerus and Whis leave to find Vegeta, who is attending Bulma's birthday party on Earth.

Upon arriving on Earth, Beerus locates Vegeta and starts to playfully mess with him by moving around rapidly. He tries to jog Vegeta’s memory of their previous encounter from Vegeta’s childhood, but Vegeta doesn’t remember until Beerus paralyzes him, which causes the Saiyan Prince to recall the time Beerus humiliated his father, King Vegeta. Beerus then asks Vegeta about the Super Saiyan God, a concept that catches Vegeta by surprise. Shortly after, Bulma greets Beerus and Whis, inviting them to her birthday party. Beerus and Whis join the other party guests, and at one point, Yamcha approaches Beerus, engaging in a friendly conversation and giving him a playful smack on the back, much to Vegeta’s alarm as he is fully aware of Beerus’ volatile nature.

Later, Krillin offers Beerus some Russian Octopus Balls, one of which is filled with wasabi. When Beerus tries one, Vegeta becomes extremely nervous, thinking Beerus is disgusted, but to everyone’s relief, Beerus instead praises the dish, finding it delicious. Despite enjoying the party, Beerus is still focused on finding the Super Saiyan God. Whis reminds him that most of the Saiyans are children, and only Goku and Vegeta are pure-blooded Saiyans. While Vegeta tries to appease Beerus with more food, Beerus questions him about his relationship with Goku, and Vegeta explains that Goku is his rival. Just then, Trunks playfully sprays Beerus with a water gun, which enrages the God of Destruction to the point where he threatens to destroy Earth. However, Vegeta manages to calm him down by making a scene—diving into the ocean to capture an octopus and quickly preparing more octopus balls, which appeases Beerus for the moment.

After hearing about pudding, Beerus and Whis encounter Mr. Satan and Majin Buu, who are eating pudding. Whis asks Majin Buu to share some with them, but Buu refuses. This triggers Beerus’ temper, and a battle ensues between the two. Beerus quickly overwhelms Majin Buu and blasts him into the ocean. Gotenks attempts to intervene but is easily defeated by Beerus with a tap on the forearm. In the manga version, Gotenks goes Super Saiyan 3 before being tossed into the ocean. Piccolo, Android 18, and Tien Shinhan also challenge Beerus, but they are effortlessly subdued by him with a Kiai (force wave). When Majin Buu recovers and challenges Beerus again, Gohan charges in to help but ends up being knocked back alongside Buu.

Finally, Super Saiyan Vegeta engages Beerus, but the God of Destruction merely paralyzes Vegeta and slams him into the ground, mockingly comparing Vegeta’s weakness to his father, King Vegeta. Beerus then prepares to gather energy for a finger beam to destroy the Earth. However, Bulma confronts him and slaps him across the face. To everyone’s shock, Beerus smiles and slaps Bulma back, triggering an intense rage in Vegeta.

This rage causes Vegeta to transform into Super Saiyan 2 (Enraged), and he manages to land blows on Beerus, pushing the battle over the ocean and even blasting Beerus with a Galick Gun. However, Beerus remains unharmed and nonchalantly reveals that he hasn’t used 10% of his power in a long time. Beerus then flicks Vegeta, sending him crashing down to the ground. As Beerus prepares to destroy Earth, he hesitates, debating whether he should do so since he finds the planet's food so enjoyable. Bulma pleads with him to spare the planet, and Beerus decides to give them one last chance by playing a game of rock-paper-scissors with Oolong, whom Beerus mistakes for being the same species as Majin Buu.

Oolong is nervous about challenging Beerus to a game of rock-paper-scissors, knowing that Earth's fate hangs in the balance. Beerus warns that if Oolong doesn't play, he'll destroy the planet anyway. They begin, and the first two rounds end in a tie with both using scissors. Frustrated, Beerus suspects Oolong of cheating, but Oolong points out that if he had cheated, he would have won by now. In the third round, Beerus uses rock, defeating Oolong's scissors, and prepares to destroy Earth.

Just as Beerus is about to unleash an energy sphere to annihilate the planet, Goku arrives and asks for time to summon the Super Saiyan God. Goku gathers the Dragon Balls and summons Shenron, who is visibly shaken by Beerus' presence. Shenron explains that he cannot summon the Super Saiyan God but knows how to create the form. He reveals that five righteous Saiyans must channel their energy into a sixth Saiyan to complete the transformation.

The group attempts the ritual with Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, and Goten, but it fails. As Beerus grows impatient, Videl reveals that she is pregnant with Gohan's child, making her unborn baby the sixth Saiyan needed for the ritual. They try again, and this time, the ritual works. Goku transforms into the Super Saiyan God, and Beerus, pleased with the result, applauds Goku. The two are excited to begin their long-awaited battle.

Beerus and Goku fly into the clouds to start their fight. Beerus quickly realizes that Goku hasn't fully mastered the power of the Super Saiyan God and easily avoids Goku's attacks, wanting Goku to use more of his power. Goku responds by charging a Kamehameha, which Beerus dodges effortlessly, though he is impressed by Goku's technique. Beerus boasts that no one in the universe is stronger than him and begins to land punches on Goku, forcing Goku to retreat and rethink his strategy.

Using his superior speed, Beerus quickly catches up and counters Goku's punches, knocking him into the ocean. Goku recovers and rushes back into the fight, but Beerus continues to dodge his attacks with ease, landing blows that cause Goku's arm to burn. As Goku begins to adjust to the Super Saiyan God power, he manages to dodge some of Beerus' strikes and even scratches Beerus' face. Goku, jokingly, flicks and chops Beerus in retaliation.

Tired of the playful exchange, Beerus declares that it's time for a serious battle between gods. The two engage in a more intense exchange, with Goku landing a hit that knocks Beerus into the clouds. Unfazed, Beerus returns the favor, and the two continue trading blows, throwing powerful attacks at each other. Goku notices that Beerus is now using more of his power, but as Goku tries to converse, Beerus abruptly ends the talk by launching an attack. This pushes their battle down to an island.

Growing tired of the fight, Beerus decides to end it and sends Goku flying into space.

Beerus claims he has a technique that could destroy Earth and begins launching energy attacks at Goku, resembling atomic blasts. Goku successfully counters and destroys these blasts with his Kamehameha. Despite the exchange, Beerus expresses disappointment, believing Goku isn't the Super Saiyan God he was searching for. During the battle, Beerus drives his hand into Goku's abdomen, sending him crashing toward the ocean. Goku re-emerges, insisting that the Super Saiyan God form hasn't reached its limits, and he still has more power to unleash. Beerus agrees, claiming he, too, has more power to reveal.

As the fight progresses, Beerus and Goku ascend higher into Earth's atmosphere. Beerus attempts a sneak attack by trying to knock Goku out with a chop to the neck, but Goku catches his hand in time. Their intense clashes cause shockwaves to ripple across the universe. Despite warnings from Kibito Kai about the potential danger of destroying the universe, Beerus and Goku continue their fight.

During their third clash, Goku manages to strike Beerus with the same force but without causing any universe-damaging effects. They exchange punches and kicks before Beerus unleashes another atomic-like energy attack, which Goku counters with a Kamehameha. The collision of these attacks creates a massive ki ball, causing widespread destruction. Beerus then admits that he used 100% of his power to nullify the dangerous energy and expresses frustration over the possibility of losing the fight.

The battle continues as both fighters exchange blows. Goku eventually reverts to his Super Saiyan form after reaching his time limit as a Super Saiyan God. Despite this, Goku can still keep up with Beerus by utilizing the power he absorbed from the Super Saiyan God form. However, Beerus becomes disappointed as Goku's strength doesn't meet his full expectations.

At one point, Beerus clones himself and fires an atomic bomb-like attack at Goku, assuming victory. However, Goku charges back, and the battle resumes in space. Beerus, reflecting on his obsession with the prophecy of the Super Saiyan God, prepares to end the fight as it began—with a flick to Goku's forehead. Goku, though, doesn't allow it and continues fighting. They exchange their final attacks: Goku charges a Kamehameha, and Beerus charges an atomic bomb. Their clash produces a powerful energy sphere, which Goku punches to destroy, but he loses all his remaining energy in the process and falls back toward Earth.

Beerus, prepared to destroy the planet, suddenly falls asleep mid-attack, sparing Earth from destruction. Whis takes the sleeping Beerus back to his planet, noting that Earth has somehow changed the God of Destruction. Before leaving, Beerus tells Whis that he never used his full power against Goku but wanted to see Goku's potential. In the manga, Beerus briefly returns after the fight to tell Goku that he is the second strongest warrior Beerus has ever faced before leaving again.

Golden Frieza Saga

After his fight with Goku, Beerus goes back to sleep, only to intermittently attack Goku in his sleep when Goku and Vegeta try to change his sheets. Four months later, Beerus sneezes a ki blast while training with Goku, Vegeta, and Whis, accidentally destroying a moon. Beerus questions how Goku and Vegeta arrived at his planet to train with Whis and learns that Whis has been secretly visiting Earth to taste food on Beerus's behalf. Beerus orders Whis to send Goku and Vegeta to a place for intense training, saying they need to get stronger so he can "play" with them.

While Beerus devours pizza during their training, he becomes annoyed when Whis mentions there's no more pizza. When Goku and Vegeta are brought back, Beerus becomes furious after finding out they had eaten the last of his pizzas. Goku and Vegeta flee into the forest, but Beerus chases them angrily. The situation is defused when Whis mentions a strawberry parfait that Bulma prepared on Earth, and Beerus becomes more interested in the treat.

On their way to Earth, Beerus and Whis spot Champa and Vados in Universe 7. Beerus is suspicious of his twin brother Champa’s visit, thinking he’s trying to steal food. After a brief exchange, Champa and Vados leave, but Beerus remains wary of their intentions.

When Beerus and Whis finally reach Earth, Beerus eagerly demands the sundae that Bulma prepared. As he enjoys the sundae, Beerus watches the battle between Goku and Golden Frieza. He is impressed with Frieza's improvements but chooses not to interfere, explaining to a shocked Frieza that he's only there to eat and won't interfere in the fight because he's the God of Destruction. Beerus also advises Bulma and the others to stay close to him for protection, assuring them that he will protect his ice cream, not necessarily them.

Universe 6 Saga

Beerus is asleep on his planet when Whis is told by Champa to wake him up. Annoyed, Beerus wonders why Champa and Vados have arrived. Champa challenges him to a brotherly battle over food. Beerus presents Champa with noodles, while Champa brings an egg from his universe. Curious, Champa asks where Beerus got the noodles and learns they came from Earth. Champa realizes that his universe also has an Earth, but its humanity was wiped out due to war. Champa proposes a tournament between their universes, where five fighters from each universe would compete, with Earth's fate as the prize. If Champa wins, he would use the Super Dragon Balls to switch the universes' Earths. If Beerus wins, Champa will give him the six Super Dragon Balls he has collected, and Beerus will need to find the seventh one himself.

Whis explains why Beerus and Champa no longer fight each other directly, and they agree on the tournament's rules, modeled after the Tenkaichi Budokai. The tournament will take place in five Earth days on the Nameless Planet at 10 a.m. Beerus assembles his team, which includes Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Good Buu, and the "strongest" person he's ever faced. Goku and Vegeta head to Earth to ask Bulma to invent a new Dragon Radar to track the Super Dragon Balls.

On the day of the tournament, Whis transports everyone to the Nameless Planet. Beerus becomes furious when he learns that Champa has invaded his universe to gather the Super Dragon Balls but lets it go because they're brothers. Vegeta notices a new attendee, whom Whis identifies as Monaka, the strongest warrior Beerus has ever faced. When Monaka mentions that his name means "large nipples," Beerus dismisses it as unnecessary information.

While traveling, the group plays Shiritori to pass the time, and Beerus causes a problem when he says a word ending in "n." Upon arrival at the Nameless Planet, Beerus shouts at Champa again for stealing the Super Dragon Balls from Universe 7, but again, he lets it slide. The tournament begins, with the first match between Goku and Universe 6’s Botamo. Goku wins by knocking Botamo out of the ring. The next match is Goku versus Frost, Universe 6’s counterpart to Frieza. Frost defeats Goku using an unknown technique, which leaves Beerus furious. He chastises Goku for underestimating Frost, as Goku believed Super Saiyan would be enough to win.

During the tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7, Beerus is continuously teased by Champa as his team faces setbacks. When Piccolo loses to Frost, Jaco accuses Frost of cheating, claiming he used a needle. Beerus demands that the referee check Frost, saying he doesn't care if Champa destroys Jaco if he's wrong. When Frost is proven to have cheated, Beerus insists on disqualifying him, but Vegeta intervenes, asking to fight Frost himself. Vegeta quickly defeats Frost as a Super Saiyan with a single punch.

Goku, having lost to Frost due to the cheat, requests to rejoin the tournament. Beerus confirms that Frost cheated against Goku and allows him to reenter. Goku expresses interest in fighting Monaka, but Beerus, claiming Monaka is the strongest, insists he fight last. Whis suggests revealing Monaka's true identity, but Beerus prefers to wait until after the tournament. When Goku tries to talk to Monaka, Beerus warns him that disturbing Monaka during his "meditation" would result in destruction, claiming Monaka once destroyed a planet this way. Goku, heeding the warning, leaves Monaka alone, much to Beerus' relief.

As the tournament nears its end, Champa threatens to destroy his own team, and Beerus warns Goku about Champa, reminding him that he’s a God of Destruction and too powerful to defeat. When Zeno, the ruler of all 12 universes, arrives, Beerus is shocked and deeply unsettled. Vegeta, unfamiliar with Zeno, casually asks who he is, leading Beerus to reveal Zeno's immense authority, shocking Vegeta and Piccolo.

Beerus and Champa, along with their respective attendants Whis and Vados, approach Zeno, followed by the Supreme Kais. Zeno chastises Beerus and Champa for neglecting their duties as Gods of Destruction, prompting Whis and Vados to point out their faults. Zeno humorously suggests appointing new Gods of Destruction, terrifying both Beerus and Champa, before revealing it was just a joke. Goku, casually interacting with Zeno and even lifting him, greatly worries Beerus, but he is relieved when Zeno leaves peacefully.

After the tournament, Beerus makes the wish with the Super Dragon Balls, restoring Universe 6’s Earth and its inhabitants so that Champa can enjoy its food. Beerus claims he did this only to make Champa owe him a favor. Upon returning to his planet, Beerus secretly hides treasure in Monaka's delivery truck as payment for his role in the tournament and promises to use him again in the future. He remains on his planet while Whis returns the Z-Fighters to Earth.

Beerus is invited to Bulma's Universe 7 victory party, along with Whis. While Bulma mentions that Monaka should be invited, Beerus and Whis secretly have no plans to do so, as they are trying to protect the truth that Monaka is not actually the powerful fighter Beerus claimed him to be. However, upon arriving on Earth, they find that Monaka is already there, having delivered a package. Beerus grows concerned that Goku, who keeps asking Monaka for a rematch, will discover Monaka's weakness.

To maintain the illusion, Beerus dons a life-size Monaka costume and reluctantly faces off against Goku in a sparring match. Throughout the fight, Beerus must be cautious not to tear the costume, while still giving Goku a worthy battle. Vegeta and Piccolo attempt to intervene, likely to help preserve the ruse, but Beerus knocks them back, growing excited by the fight since he hasn't fought in some time after watching the entire tournament.

Eventually, the fight is interrupted by Whis, who stops both "Monaka" (Beerus in disguise) and Goku, warning them that their clash could cause significant damage to the area. At the end of the day, the secret of Monaka's true strength is kept safe, and Goku remains unaware of the truth.

"Future" Trunks Saga

Beerus, Whis, Goku, and Vegeta are enjoying ramen on Beerus' planet when Bulma contacts them, informing Goku and Vegeta of Future Trunks' return. Beerus and Whis accompany Goku and Vegeta to Earth, where they meet Future Trunks. Upon realizing that this is a Trunks from the future, Beerus and Whis deduce that the humans have been manipulating time, which Beerus calls a serious offense punishable by destruction. However, after Future Trunks begs for mercy (mistakenly thinking Whis is the God of Destruction), Beerus decides to let it slide when Bulma offers him fish sausages.

In the anime, Beerus watches a sparring match between Goku and Future Trunks and is impressed by Trunks' strength. When Goku Black appears, Beerus and Whis take note of the Time Ring Black is wearing, which only a Supreme Kai can possess. Beerus quickly points out that Black's ki is different and strange, confirming that he is not Goku. Later, Beerus reveals that Black's ki feels familiar, though he cannot immediately place it.

Beerus, Whis, and Goku travel to Universe 10 because Beerus suspects that Black may be linked to Zamasu, an apprentice Supreme Kai. Upon arriving in the Supreme Kai's realm, Beerus and Whis inform Gowasu (Universe 10's Supreme Kai) about Goku Black and the Time Ring. Gowasu appears surprised by this information, and Beerus asks to see the Time Rings for himself. Gowasu obliges and shows them the rings stored in the temple.

When Zamasu fights Goku, Beerus tells him that holding back would result in his death. As they watch the match, Beerus and Whis notice that Zamasu's ki closely resembles Black's. After the fight ends, Beerus decides it's time to leave, acknowledging that they have enough evidence to suspect Zamasu. On the way back, Beerus expresses regret that he didn't destroy Zamasu earlier, while Goku, who had found Zamasu polite, comments on being too trusting. Beerus retorts that Goku is indeed too trusting.

Later, on Beerus' planet, Whis is cooking stir-fry when his staff activates. Whis asks Beerus to answer it, but Beerus dismisses it, saying they are busy. The staff floats over, revealing Zeno, which causes Beerus to immediately bow so quickly that he smashes his head through the table. Whis joins him in greeting Zeno, who then expresses his desire to meet Goku.

When Goku arrives on Beerus' planet, Beerus urgently explains the importance of heeding a call from Zeno. Since Whis would take two days to reach Zeno's palace, Shin offers to take Goku instead. Beerus, concerned for Shin's safety, instructs Whis to protect him. Goku is surprised by this, prompting Whis to explain that Shin and Beerus are life-linked—if one dies, so will the other. Beerus, though annoyed by this revelation, reassures Whis that he will keep it a secret.

After Goku returns from Zeno's palace and tells Beerus that he nicknamed Zeno "Zenny," Beerus is so shocked that he falls over.

Later, Beerus, Whis, and Shin visit Earth to inform Goku and the others about Zamasu's suspicious visit to Zuno. Upon hearing about Goku's fight with Goku Black in the future, Whis theorizes that Zamasu used the Super Dragon Balls to create Black, a copy of Goku. Beerus adds that Zamasu likely used the Time Ring to jump forward one year, gather the Super Dragon Balls again, and wish for immortality. They also suspect that Zamasu plans to kill Gowasu to take his Time Ring.

Beerus, Whis, Goku, and Shin travel to Universe 10 to check on Gowasu. After arriving and being greeted by Zamasu and Gowasu, the group pretends to leave but watches Zamasu from a distance using Whis' temporal powers. They witness Zamasu killing Gowasu, but Whis rewinds time and stops the attack just in time by creating a glove to intercept it. With clear evidence of Zamasu's treachery, the group explains the situation to Gowasu. Zamasu, cornered, tries to attack but is swiftly destroyed by Beerus with minimal effort.

After Beerus destroys Zamasu in the present, he returns to Earth with Whis and Goku. He informs Future Trunks and the others that since Zamasu is dead, Black should also be erased from existence due to the time stream's connection with a god's life, which should have rendered the future peaceful. However, Future Trunks doubts this, frustrating Beerus. When Future Trunks shares his knowledge about timelines, Beerus reluctantly agrees to let him return to the future to verify what is happening, although he dismissively claims that he doesn't care about the future's fate, peaceful or not.

While waiting at Capsule Corporation for news, Beerus witnesses Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma return without Future Trunks. Kid Trunks and the Pilaf Gang assume that everything is fine, but when Bulma reveals that the future is still in chaos due to Black and Future Zamasu's actions, Beerus is shocked. He tries to deny responsibility for the ongoing events, saying it has nothing to do with him, which infuriates Bulma. She nearly slaps him in anger, but Vegeta stops her and explains that the Supreme Kais in Future Trunks' timeline were all killed by Zamasu and Black. He also reveals that the unaltered timeline's Zamasu stole Goku's body to become Goku Black.

With his curiosity satisfied and the mystery solved, Beerus decides to return home with Whis, uninterested in further involvement since he already destroyed the Zamasu of the present timeline.

Later, Beerus and Whis travel to Universe 10 to inform Gowasu about the events involving Zamasu. Whis explains that Beerus feels a heavy sense of responsibility since the future did not change despite his intervention. Beerus mentions that although he could easily destroy Zamasu if he were to go to the future, as a God of Destruction, he is forbidden from crossing the time stream, leaving him unable to act. Gowasu acknowledges this and agrees to take responsibility for the future situation.

After the two versions of Zamasu are erased by Future Zeno, resulting in the destruction of Future Trunks' entire timeline, Future Trunks and Future Mai are brought safely back to the present by Goku, Bulma, Vegeta, Gowasu, and Shin. Beerus advises Gowasu to be more cautious when selecting an apprentice in the future. When Goku and Future Trunks return from the destroyed timeline with Future Zeno, Beerus is shocked to see another version of Zeno, even though he comes from the future.

Later, Whis informs Future Trunks and Future Mai that he plans to travel to a point in their timeline's past, before Goku Black's arrival, and have the future version of Beerus deal with Future Zamasu. Beerus warns Whis about tampering with time, but Whis points out that Beerus' destruction of Zamasu in the present already created a new Time Ring, exposing his hypocrisy, much to Beerus' frustration.

Universe Survival Saga

Beerus grows increasingly annoyed with Goku's eagerness to see Zeno and push for the Tournament of Power. Concerned that Goku's carefree attitude could irritate Zeno, Beerus threatens to destroy Goku. He even places his hand in front of Goku's face in the Hakai position, suggesting that perhaps he has been too lenient with him. However, Goku manages to outwit Beerus by using the button to visit Zeno, leaving Beerus worried about the potential consequences.

When Goku returns from his visit, the Grand Priest appears and announces the Tournament of Power. He also mentions that a Zeno Expo will take place because Future Zeno has never seen Goku fight. The Grand Priest explains that each universe needs to gather three warriors for the Expo and warns that the losing universes in the main tournament will be erased from existence, horrifying Beerus and everyone else.

Beerus becomes furious with Goku, blaming him for putting the universes at risk. He tells Goku that despite his friendly relationship with Zeno, Goku is nothing more than a temporary plaything in Zeno's eyes, and Zeno wouldn’t hesitate to erase him. Frustrated, Beerus orders Goku to find three warriors for the Zeno Expo. Goku recruits Gohan and Buu and brings Mr. Satan along since Buu will only listen to him. They then head to Zeno's palace, where they encounter representatives from Universe 9.

At the arena, where the Expo is held, Beerus observes the reactions of the other universes, who now see Goku as the one responsible for the tournament that threatens their survival. During Buu's fight with Universe 9's Basil, Universe 9’s Roh throws fruit to Basil to increase his power. Beerus objects and accuses Universe 9 of cheating, but the Grand Priest allows it since the rules have not yet been established and silences Beerus with a mere glare.

After Goku's battle with Toppo ended in a draw, with the Grand Priest stopping it to save their full strength for the Tournament of Power, Beerus became furious. He saw the draw against Universe 11's second strongest fighter as a bad omen and yelled at both Goku and Gohan to take the situation seriously.

Upon returning to the Sacred World of the Kai after the Zeno Expo, Beerus argued with Goku, emphasizing the need to train to ensure Universe 7 (and more importantly, himself) wouldn’t be erased. Whis stepped in to stop their argument, and Beerus then noted that only the Angels would survive the erasure of a universe, a perk of being a higher being. Realizing the Grand Priest was Whis’ father, Beerus humorously suggested bribing him to exclude Universe 7 from the tournament, but Whis refused. Beerus then proposed they head to Capsule Corporation to devise a strategy. Goku was annoyed by Beerus' complaints about the universe’s potential destruction, pointing out that Beerus destroys things "willy-nilly," to which Beerus furiously retorted that he does not destroy without reason.

Back on Earth, Beerus learned that Vegeta refused to compete in the tournament unless Bulma, who was pregnant, approved. Nervously, Beerus ordered Vegeta to participate, but Vegeta insisted he would only do so if Bulma agreed. Fortunately, Whis used his powers to induce the birth of Bulla, allowing Vegeta to compete.

During the 40-hour preparation window, Beerus spent his time eating and sleeping while Goku handled recruiting. Beerus, aware that many were unaware of the full scope of the situation, had a daydream where Bulma angrily blamed him for not preventing Goku's reckless actions, followed by Whis jokingly scolding Beerus. When Krillin initially refused to join, Beerus threatened to kill him if he didn’t comply.

Later, when Good Buu fell asleep and was unable to participate, Beerus yelled at the others for not having a backup plan. Goku then suggested recruiting Frieza as the tenth member of their team, much to Beerus' surprise.

During the Tournament of Power, Beerus was actively engaged, offering praise when Universe 7 fighters defeated opponents but expressing frustration at various moments. He was particularly annoyed when Goku held back and allowed the strongest fighters of Universe 2 to transform instead of attacking them, when Krillin was eliminated for letting his guard down, when Goku and Vegeta fell for Prum and Harmira's trap, and when Goku refused Frieza's help while fighting Caulifla and Kale alone.

In one notable moment, Master Roshi defeated Dercori from Universe 4 using the Evil Containment Wave, trapping her in a jar. Quitela protested that using the jar was against the rules, but Beerus pointed out that Dercori had used talismans against Roshi. Fortunately for Beerus, the Zenos allowed it because they found it entertaining. Beerus, who had been cheering Roshi on and calling him "Old Man," surprisingly showed respect for Roshi after his victory. When Krillin corrected Beerus, telling him Roshi’s proper name, Beerus thanked him politely, which was uncharacteristic for him. After Roshi dropped out of the tournament voluntarily, Beerus again showed respect by addressing him as "Master Roshi."

Beerus was deeply invested in Goku's fight against Jiren. When Goku was presumed destroyed by his own Spirit Bomb, Beerus appeared upset, mourning Goku's apparent demise. However, when Goku began to power up and enter Ultra Instinct Sign, Beerus recognized what was happening, smirking in anticipation and acknowledging Goku’s transformation with a brief comment: "Here it comes." Later, as Goku tapped into Ultra Instinct Sign once again, Beerus continued to be impressed but also seemed somewhat irked at Goku’s ability to reactivate the form. He remained focused, silently analyzing the battle between Goku and Kefla.

As Universe 6 was down to its last two fighters, Whis noticed Beerus had grown quiet and suggested it might be because Champa could be erased. Beerus denied this and instead cheered for the elimination of Universe 6. However, when Universe 6 was ultimately defeated, Beerus did not gloat. He stood silently, eyes closed, and only opened them slightly when Champa called out to him. Champa playfully made a rude gesture to Beerus before being erased. Beerus turned back quietly and calmly, quietly wishing his brother would "say something" as Champa vanished.

As the Tournament of Power progressed, Beerus continued to carefully observe the fights. His frustration grew when Universe 4's hidden warriors harassed his team, eventually leading to Piccolo being knocked out. The tension escalated further when Universe 3's remaining warriors fused and gained the upper hand. Despite this, Beerus maintained his focus.

When the Grand Priest shortened the spectator bench, Beerus glared at Belmod, indicating his frustration. As Universe 11 quickly gained the advantage in the tournament, Beerus became worried. However, his mood changed to excitement when Vegeta powered up to a new level, pushing Jiren back alongside Goku. Beerus calmly acknowledged Gohan's contribution when Gohan sacrificed himself to eliminate Dyspo, demonstrating his recognition of the efforts of all his team members.

Beerus became alarmed when Toppo of Universe 11 transformed into a God of Destruction and actively advised Android 17 and Frieza on the dangers they faced during their battle with Toppo.

Later in the tournament, when Goku achieved the Perfected Ultra Instinct state, Beerus and the other Gods of Destruction stood in full recognition of Goku's feat. Beerus, in disbelief, asked Whis if Goku had truly mastered Ultra Instinct. Whis confirmed this with a smile, and Beerus grinned savagely, acknowledging that Goku had indeed reached a new height of power. By standing in recognition, Beerus implicitly admitted that Goku had finally surpassed the Gods of Destruction in power.

Although Beerus was excited when Goku momentarily seemed to have defeated Jiren with a powerful Kamehameha, his excitement turned to shock when Goku collapsed from the negative effects of Ultra Instinct, indicating the battle was not yet over. Despite the setback, Universe 7 ultimately won the tournament.

Following the victory, Beerus had Whis bring Frieza back to life as a token of gratitude for his role in saving Universe 7 from being erased, acknowledging the importance of Frieza's contribution to their survival.

Broly Saga

Beerus shows little interest in Frieza's pursuit of the Dragon Balls and declines to accompany Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and Whis to confront him. Instead, Bulma, seeing an opportunity, leaves Bulla in Beerus' care, trusting him to babysit her while they deal with the situation.

Although initially annoyed by the task, Beerus ends up entertaining Bulla, using his tail to amuse her. He takes her to the beach, where he relaxes and allows Bulla to lie on his chest and play with his clothing. This scene showcases a rare, softer side of Beerus, as he looks after the child with uncharacteristic patience and care.

Galactic Prisoner Patrol Saga

Beerus, feeling bored, participates in a fishing contest with the Oracle Fish while Whis observes a decline in energy on New Namek. When Whis informs Beerus of this, he dismisses it since New Namek lacks interesting food. Later, Merus arrives to watch the battles on Earth with Whis, and Beerus, ever focused on food, asks Merus if he knows any tasty recipes. When Merus can't provide any, Beerus calls him a waste of space.

After overhearing that Goku is struggling against Moro, a hungry Beerus decides to head to Earth for some good food. Once there, Whis transports the injured Dragon Team warriors away from the battlefield while Beerus decides to visit Bulma's to preserve gourmet food. On his way, however, Beerus senses Merus using his true Angel powers and, not wanting to face the wrath of the Grand Priest, rushes to stop him. Unfortunately, they arrive too late and witness Merus fade away for breaking the Angel code.

As Goku continues his battle with Moro, Beerus becomes increasingly frustrated with Goku's decisions, especially his refusal to finish Moro off quickly. When Moro merges with the Earth, Beerus contemplates intervening, realizing that the loss of Earth’s food would be a disaster. However, just as he's about to act, Whis informs him that the Grand Priest has summoned them, and Beerus immediately departs.

At Zeno's Palace, Beerus and Whis are chastised by the Grand Priest for the situation involving Merus. To Beerus' relief, the Grand Priest reveals that he has revived Merus as a mortal, thanks to Shin’s willingness to sacrifice himself. Beerus, however, grows angry at Shin for risking both of their lives. The Grand Priest imposes penalties on everyone involved, and Beerus and Shin are later seen playing "horsey" with Zeno to give the attendants a break. Tired and irritated, Beerus blames Goku for the entire mess, believing that Goku’s actions led to Merus breaking his code.

Granolah the Survivor Saga

Goku and Vegeta return to Beerus' Planet for further training. While Goku spars with Whis using his Perfected Ultra Instinct form, Vegeta asks Beerus whether Whis is currently using Ultra Instinct. Beerus explains that Angels are always in that state. Beerus then asks if Vegeta plans to master Ultra Instinct as well, but Vegeta declines. In response, Beerus mentions that there is another technique, one used by Gods of Destruction, but refuses to disclose further details. He hints at Vegeta being free to pursue anything he desires during their training.

Beerus confronts Vegeta about his attachment to the Saiyans' destructive past, advising him to let go of the guilt. He tells Vegeta that holding onto the sins of his race will prevent him from mastering the power of destruction. During their conversation, Beerus reveals that he was the one who ordered Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta. This revelation infuriates Vegeta, who attacks Beerus in his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved form. However, Beerus effortlessly dodges the attack and counters with a Hakai, destroying part of Vegeta's armor. After defeating him, Beerus advises Vegeta to rebuild himself from scratch if he wishes to become stronger.

In the following training sessions, Vegeta attempts to use Hakai to erase a small rock but mistakenly destroys it with a simple Ki blast. Beerus explains that Hakai completely erases things from existence, turning something into nothing. To demonstrate, Beerus uses Hakai on another rock, accidentally burning one of his comics in the process. Over the next few weeks, Beerus continues training Vegeta by having him destroy logs he throws into a stream. When Goku and Vegeta prepare to return to Earth, Beerus gives Vegeta an earring as a symbol of his ability to use Hakai, urging him to prove that the technique is superior to that of the Angels.

High School Saga

Beerus is seen casually enjoying cup noodles with Goku, Whis, and the Oracle Fish on his planet. This scene reflects the laid-back atmosphere before any major events unfold.

Super Hero Saga

Beerus awakens from a long, four-month slumber only to discover that Broly, Lemo, and Cheelai have been staying on his planet without his permission. However, after tasting Lemo's cooking and becoming fond of Cheelai, he allows them to stay. Following a lavish feast, Beerus even fires Whis as his head chef and replaces him with Lemo, clearly impressed with his culinary skills.

While Goku and Vegeta spar nearby, Beerus enjoys some ice cream and puts up a protective barrier to prevent Cheelai from getting wet when the battle creates a large wave. As the intense sparring continues, Beerus eventually grows bored and takes a nap in his seat, showing his usual indifferent attitude toward ongoing battles unless they directly concern him.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes

In the Universal Conflict Saga of Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Beerus makes a brief appearance at Zeno's Palace. He is reluctantly dragged into a game of hide-and-seek with the two Zenos and his brother Champa, adding a lighthearted moment to his character.

In the Universe Creation Saga, Beerus takes on a more serious role when he shows up on Earth with the other Gods of Destruction. As they prepare to act, Beerus powers up an Energy of Destruction Ki Blast, but Tokitoki unexpectedly dispels it by flapping his wings. Beerus explains to Goku that the Oracle Fish predicted that a strange bird would appear in Universe 7 and destroy all universes. Beerus, surprisingly, halts the other Gods of Destruction from acting, stating that he will take responsibility for his universe.

Goku, Vegeta, and Xeno Trunks confront Beerus, but despite their Super Saiyan Blue transformations, they are unable to land a hit, as Beerus easily counters their attacks. Before the fight can progress further, Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta arrive and reveal that the Universe Tree is absorbing energy from all living things. Beerus, realizing the severity of the situation, flies up and unleashes his energy to counter the Universe Tree’s absorption of energy. Despite his efforts, Beerus struggles to hold it off for long and orders the others to deal with Fu and the Universe Tree.

Later, Beerus reappears with Champa and their attendants, having successfully gathered the Super Dragon Balls. They summon Super Shenron and ask him to destroy the Universe Tree, showcasing Beerus’ strategic use of the Super Dragon Balls to save the universes from the impending threat.

Powers And Statistics

Tier: 2-C

Power and Abilities:

Resistance to:

Attack Potency: Low Multiverse level (Is one of the strongest warriors in Universe 7, second only to his mentor Whis. Far stronger than Goku and Vegeta as of the Broly Saga, where they are still desperately catching up to him. A fight between two Gods of Destruction is taboo[33] and will result in the destruction of two universes[26] [each containing three universal space-times]. Is stated to be able to easily destroy the universe, and has proven these claims multiple times during his fight with Goku, despite holding back his true power. Traded blows with Champa, who can harm him[Statistics Values 1])

Speed: Massively FTL+ (Comparable to the speed of the explosion from the ki sphere which SSG Goku and Beerus created in their final clash, which threatened to engulf the entire universe in mere moments, casually nullified said energy while heavily suppressed.[Statistics Values 2])

Lifting Strength: At least Class T (Far superior to Tournament of Power Goku, who endured Pretty Black Hole's gravitational pull[Statistics Values 3])

Striking Strength: Low Multiverse level

Durability: Low Multiverse level (Wasn't concerned by the prospect of double-universal destruction during his bouts with Champa)

Stamina: Superhuman (Easily took on the entirety of the Z-Fighters without breaking a sweat and casually took on Goku even after he became a Super Saiyan God without breaking a sweat)

Range: Standard Melee Range; Low Multiversal with attacks/shockwaves and ki blasts (Would have destroyed both his and his brother's universes in a battle with the latter)

Standard Equipment: None notable.

Intelligence: At least Above Average, Genius combatant (As the God of Destruction, Beerus possesses millions of years of fighting experience, casually defeating the entirety of the Z Fighters with nothing more than a bored expression on his face. Due to his tutelage under Whis, Beerus has mastered a wide variety of martial arts and has extensive knowledge of pressure points, allowing him to instantly incapacitate foes of Goku's caliber with a single attack. However, for all his power and experience, Beerus' inability to find a proper sparring partner (outside of Whis) in Universe 7 has left him in a constant state of boredom and moodiness. As a result, he will often drag out fights for their entertainment on the rare occasion that he does find someone who manages to catch his eye (as he did with Goku despite his ability to easily defeat him at any time). In addition, he is far more interested in trying Earth's cuisine than paying attention to important objectives or potentially cataclysmic events, such as ignoring Frieza's rampage while enjoying a sundae and watching from the sidelines which, to be frank, was somewhat justified at the time by the fact that Beerus was still far above the conqueror in terms of power)

Weaknesses: Beerus is incredibly lazy and quite moody. Obsessed with Earth's cuisine. He enjoys a good fight and will often drag it out for entertainment value. If Shin is killed, Beerus will die as well.

Trivia

  • Old Kai's Sealing: Old Kai claims he was sealed away because someone feared his power, not due to an argument. However, in Xenoverse 2, Old Kai admits to forgetting the exact details of the argument. He also claimed that Beerus' power at the time wasn't as terrifying as Innocent Buu's, although Beerus' strength likely increased during the 75 million years Old Kai was sealed. Considering that Super Saiyan 3 Goku could defeat Innocent Buu, Beerus is now far stronger.
  • Egyptian Inspiration: Beerus’ design is influenced by the Egyptian gods Anubis and Sekhmet. Anubis has a jackal-like head and is associated with mummification, the underworld, and cemeteries. Sekhmet has a lioness head and is linked to fire, vengeance, healing, and destruction. Beerus shares Sekhmet's destructive nature and feline traits.
  • Other Egyptian Influences: Beerus isn't the only deity with an Egyptian design in Dragon Ball. Heles, another God of Destruction, resembles Egyptian queens like Nefertiti and Cleopatra, wearing ancient Egyptian-style clothing, including a headdress and a turquoise sash.
  • Dinosaurs on Earth: Beerus claimed he wiped out the dinosaurs on Earth, yet dinosaurs are still present in the Dragon Ball universe. One appears during Beerus' battle with Super Saiyan God Goku in Battle of Gods, contradicting Beerus' statement. One possible explanation is that Arale Norimaki from Dr. Slump used the Time Slipper to prevent dinosaurs from going extinct, bringing them back from the past.
  • Beerus and Vegeta's Fear: Beerus is one of the few characters to genuinely scare Vegeta. The others include Frieza and Broly.
  • Mistaken Identity: Both Goku and Future Trunks initially believed Whis was Universe 7's God of Destruction, as Whis appears more "godlike" than Beerus.
  • Behavioral Differences: In the Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’ films, Beerus appears more polite, sociable, respectful, and patient. However, in Dragon Ball Super, his behavior becomes more arrogant, impatient, and temperamental.
